Cabin Critters Horsehoe Crab Plush Toy

Some background about myself. I have a big-ass horseshoe crab tattoo. Strange, I know; but I have an odd kinship with these animals so stop judging me, ok? Anyway, I thought it would be cute to give my girlfriend this plush for Christmas, because it was cute and I thought it would make her think of me. I put it in this little carrying case and made it all cute and was SO proud of myself. "Man, this is so unique and quirky, and I am just so thoughtful," I thought to myself pompously.Fast forward to Christmas morning, she opens all of her presents and I make her save this one for last. With the biggest grin on my face she reaches for the case, and opens the top. "Oh my god why does it have a tail?" I hear in a panicked voice. She reaches her hand further in to remove the crab from the case blindly. "Tyler! Tyler! Tyler!" I hear, the panic quickly turning to hyperventilation. I pull the rest of it out and present it to her only for tears to fall from her eyes, and not the tears of joy I was expecting.The thing you have to understand about this plush in particular is that every limb of the crab (all 9 of them [to include tail]) is individually attached. Meaning they're a little floppy and weird. Once you set it up and lay it down it looks fine, BUT if you're just sticking your hand blindly into a box, not expecting to feel 9 mink-covered soft limp appendages grabbing you, things can get a little freaky.So all she felt was something grabbing at her, which set the mood for the rest of the poorly thought out presentation. Bottom line is that my beautifully heartfelt thoughtful gift quickly turned into a light horror experience akin to the Alien movies.5 Stars. Soft, a little smaller than expected, but overall passable quality. It's not the toys fault that my girlfriend hates me now.

My son who is going to be a father any day now absolutely loved it as I did - he and my daughter-in-law are collecting sea creatures so this was a great find. It is well made and very soft and will give me an opportunity when my grandson is older to explain how I used to find horseshoe crabs on the beaches of Martha's Vineyard when i was a young girl...

It's not as big of a product as I'd like, but I knew that going into the purchase -- I just wish they sold a bigger size too, more like the adult horseshoe crabs we see on the beach! But man, I love my little guy. He is great, detailed top and bottom, and his little legs are just perfect for holding. So unique, and definitely looks like it's real-life counter part, while still being affordable! I love him! He would be a great tool to use for teaching, exposing children too these amazing creatures.

This little guy is soft, lifelike ( as far as a stuffed animal goes) and is cute as can be !

Since seeing the movie, Alien, and being permanently mentally damaged as a child, my husband has been terrified of these little dudes who he says resembled the egg sucker thingy that launches itself from the eggs. So I decided (one gleeful evening after he had tried freaking me out with something that look like a spider) I would order this and call it his “emotional support animal”. It was a way for him to “overcome his feelings of abject horror and chilling fear” that would course through his veins every time he’d see them. Plus, I want to get him back for his constant bullying with the spiders. So I ornately wrapped it as a Christmas gift with shiny wrapping, ribbon and holly and beautiful pine branches on top of the box. I really pulled out all the stops. And when he opened it on that lovely snow globe of a Christmas morning, with the family in their matching pyjamas drinking hot chocolate and chowing down on peppermint canes, he launched it across the room with a shriek that reached the upper echelons of mezzo soprano. Looking back, I wish I had recorded it and sent it in to AFHV. He went white. He couldn’t talk. He might have even tinkled a little. But it was worth it! Oh I’m evil - soooo evil!He has recovered. Mostly. And he finds Charlene (my daughter and I named her) in various places about the house. You know - just to try and keep the healing going. One day, I’m sure he’ll thank me for ridding him of this silly fear. He might even want to go to an aquarium and pet one! Heh heh hehhhhh….

Very cute horseshoe crab. And I don't imagine it's easy to make a cute horseshoe crab. Soft and squishy and very user-friendly.

My son loves it. Not overly cuddly, but seems really durable. I got a story book about horseshoe crabs to go with it and he enjoys reading the book to it.
