It's a deterrent
I mainly use this for when I leave my kayak in camp or when it's on my truck rack. It gives a little added security as someone would have to have a tool to take your kayak. It is not a huge deterrent as the cable is fairly thin. For the price, i would expect a little more.

It works, but it's hard to set up properly every time
This locking mechanism work by looping the longer wire around one end of your kayak, looping the shorter piece around the other end, then threading the end of the longer wire through the shorter one, then locking it to a chain or some other locking mechanism. It works, but only as long as there's no way to reduce the tension between whatever/however the cable is locked to and your kayak. If it's possible to just move the yak closer to what you locked it too, the tension can be released to the point where it would be easy to flip one loop off one end of your kayak, and away it goes into a thief's hands. So yes... it works... but it's only as good as the install, and the install has to be carefully done each and every time you use it. If you only lock up your yak occasionally, this is a good method. We lock ours up every day outside of our lakehouse, and I admit that there have been days when I went to unlock it, only to realize that we hadn't done a good enough job locking it up the night before. While this is user error, a simple modification of this design would be to provide another couple of small loops on the locking end of the long wire so that you could thread the long wire through the shorter one, then back onto itself and onto one of these smaller loops that would assure that the tension between the two ends of the yak is maintained.. I'm no engineer, but I do think this would be a huge upgrade.

Great locking cables for peace of mind
Used this for a kayaking trip where our kayaks were left outside on our car at a hotel. Worked great. Make sure your kayaks taper at both ends though, or these will not work. The little loop where the lock goes did break on us at one point, but we just locked it above the crimp in the cable to finish out our trip. Contacted the company to send a replacement and they responded quickly to send me a new set. You do need to pull these tight and do some extra wrapping around your roof rack. Do not buy these if you have an ocean style kayak as those do not taper at one end. These are not made for that style. Our kayaks were 10ft Sun Dolphin brand and model if that's helpful.

Feel Secure
I feel like our kayaks are securely fastened to our car top carrier. These do take some time to get tightened up for security but replacing a stolen kayak would be far worse!

Works great for my 12.5' Old Town Loon kayak
It's a great cable system. It does concern me that anyone could come along with bolt cutters and snip it easily.

Great cable, but should be called Extra Large
This is a great security cable, but it is much longer than expected.I bought this lock for my 16' Wilderness Systems Zephyr kayak. The product description says this is for "large 14'+ kayaks", however that cable was almost 4' too long for my 16' kayak. If you need to wrap the cable around a large object, then this length would be useful, but for smaller objects, such as a roof rack, it is much too long for my 16' kayak, and would certainly be too long for a 14' kayak.I returned the Large and got the Small version instead. The Small is for "Small 9-14 Kayaks", but is a great fit for my 16' sea kayak. I only wish they made an even smaller one for my girlfriend's 12' kayak. From the Suspenz website, "length of long cable from loop to locking loop" is 12' for the Large, and 9' for the Small. The loops are rather large, so that on my sea kayak, they slide 5' down from bow and stern.

Better kayak lock up systems out there. Keep looking
Definitely doesn’t get tight enough not to slip over the ends of the kayak unless you really work it and are creative. And I have gotten it to work for 4 months but today one of the cables popped out of the crimp. So not a good assembled product for the price

Very thin - too thin - a good plier will cut this.
Should have just bought two thick bike cables, and looped through one another! An expensive mistake

Keep your kayaks on YOUR car!
Works great -secures the kayak to the top of my jeep. I also use a shorter bike lock and run this through it to lock 2 kayaks together and also to the Jeep - whether it is top up or down. Gives me piece of mind that theft of convenience is not likely to happen - thieves will move on to easier pickings! (sorry guys!). I'm sure if someone came prepared they could get through these but for what I need they are great. Just remember to attach these before tying off the front and back of the kayak!!

Très bien
Très bon achat , fait la job à peu près le seul genre d'antivol existant pour les kayaks.

They are well thought out and easy to use
These are sturdily made cables. They are well thought out and easy to use. I have more peace of mind if I have to stop somewhere and leave my car for awhile. It would take special cutters to get through the cable. The lock would more than likely be the weak link.
