Quite the best book available on this subject
An absolutely superb book full of evocative 'Then and Now' photographs of the huge Chatham Royal Dockyard and it's environs. The author tells his tale well and, having visited the dockyard on quite a few occasions, the book amplifies the knowledge of the yard that I already had. Quite the best book available on this subject. My only very slight criticism is the lack of a map which the reader could relate to when viewing all the superb photographs. Despite this, still a 5 star book and highly recommended.

Old Navy days
l served at HMS Pembroke Naval Barracks (which was also the RN Supply School) when in the Royal Navy, and used to travel through the Dockyard to the various ships, and storehouses, in my working day. Brought back some fond memories.

Fascinating
I work in an office very close to the Dockyard and spend most of my days there in some capacity. This book gives an amazing historical view of a place once shrouded in military secrecy, and unfortunately some of it confined to history.

Wealth of Knowledge on the well known Chatham Dockyard, Kent
Brilliant, informative book, as we know the local area well, it is brilliant to see how the buildings looked them and how they do now. I would imagine that all the other books in this series covering different places of interest throughout the country, will prove to do the same thing. Well worth the money.

Hit Present for 80th Birthday
This excellent book met all expectations. Well produced with good photographs and plenty of detail . Given as an 80th birthday present to a former apprentice and long serving employee, who was delighted!
