OK, so I have to say it... This vacuum sucks. Now that might be a bad thing to say about some products but it's a compliment for a vacuum.Easy to wall mount in the shop. Gets out of the way, yet ready to use at a moments notice.Comes with a nice selection of attachments.Only think I wish it had was a drain, and I think I'll add that when I have time.

It's really a gamble to see if you will get what you ordered, or if you will lose days of your life dealing with what actually arrives. . .Was really hoping to use this vacuum, but when it was turned on for the first time it made a terrible grinding noise. It ran for about 5 minutes and then stopped and started smoking black plastic-smelling smoke from the top of the motor-enclosure.(I have another Emerson Workshop Vac I've had for something like 10 years and it has always been great.) I honestly wish there was a way to order Workshop Vacs directly from Emerson.When I tried to get it replaced through Amazon, the "customer service" chat was extremely unhelpful, and actually quite rude. I was asked a question and then disconnected while typing the reply. I tried again and was unable to get anyone who could simply send a replacement and allow me to print a return label for the defective one. I was so frustrated I tried calling the manufacturer directly. The Emerson/Workshop Vac representative was far more helpful. But, in the end I would have to make a warranty claim that would take 2w to process...So, I opted to return the Vacuum to Amazon and place a 2nd order for the same thing that would hopefully come before next weekend. . . This leaves me waiting 30 days for the refund to my credit card.But, there was no return option where I could simply print a shipping label myself and bring it to a UPS drop-off location. (I am not sure why since I have been able to do this with items I have ordered with Amazon in the past) My only options were either to wait around for an entire day so that a UPS person could come to my house and print a label for me, or to drive 2 hours to a UPS store location. I opted for wasting 4 hours driving + gas instead of an entire day. And now, after all that I will wait for another 30 days to get a refund.This has been a nightmare of an experience just trying to get what I actually order in working condition.I am really on the fence about re-ordering another one and being charged AGAIN and running the risk that I will have to go through this whole madness AGAIN. . .

Can't just buy a filter at Lowes, have to order special made I think. A little large/sticks out far when installed on the wall-Used extra screws for more stable mount. Lots of power, big tank

Love the look of the vacuum and the option to hang it on the wall for space saving; however, after only 3 uses, the motor quit working without any warning. :( Would love to be able to purchase a replacement motor.

This is a VERY powerful shop vac and it works very well in cleaning out cars, sucking water out of carpets, cleaning air filters and many other things that require very high suction. I've had this product for over a year now and can say I am very pleased. Especially nice that we can keep it plugged in on our garage wall and so easily vacuum out our cars with the long hose while they are parked. Would definitely recommend.

Used it a handful of times and now it won’t turn on. Looks brand new and didn’t last. Never even filled a bag!

For me this is a perfect solution. I attached this to the wall in my laundry room. It allows me to clean up after the kitties I have and it stays out of the way. The extra awesome part is if I want to use it in my cars, I can just take it outside. Re-attach when done.It has a bag inside of it, which kind of confuses me in a Wet/Dry vac. I have not tried the Wet vac side yet, but I assume you would remove the bag before doing that. It is very well powered and I think a good value.

I really did my homework shopping and comparing wet and dry shop vacs until I found the 501. First of all, there is no such thing as a perfect shop vac. It's like anything else out there. There will be some compromises. I really like the power of this unit, for the size. It almost matches my 16 Gallon unit which has a much higher Hp rating. I really like the size, especially for tight spaces. I like the extra long power cord, at least 20 ft. I like the accessories this package comes with. I really like the 1 7/8 hose size this smaller unit has, as opposed to almost all the other vacs its size 1 1/4 inch. Last but not least, I really like the quality of the 7ft hose that this unit comes with. The areas this unit could improve. This package could come with a wet filter included. The 14ft hose could be as high quality as the shorter one. It could come with at least the option of casters. I will put something together so I can roll it on the floor. The company could charge $40 to $60 dollars more for this unit if it had the upgrades I just mentioned, and then it would be the perfect wet and dry vac. They would sell a hell of a lot more units to boot. Everybody wins. All and all, still, one heck of a unit.

Great product, easy enough to carry around. Suction is great and storage capacity is adequate.The Home Depot sells it's exact twin (Rigid Model # WD5500) for over $50 more. This allows you to Purchase at a lower cost while still being able to go in to your local HD and purchasing the bags/filters and accessories conveniently.I would have given it 5 stars had it not been for the tool caddy. The attachments fall out of it and or the caddy itself falls off the unit while you are moving it around. I ended up taking it off and storing the attachments separately.

Vacuum is great but hose extension is cheap and accessory caddy falls off easily which is annoying.

I was originally planning on buying the rigid model however they were out of stock, I found this one by chance and then learned that workshop and rigid are made by the same company so all the parts are identical. Very happy with my purchase and the grey actually looks better IMO plus it worked out slightly cheaper
