Great Guide to have in any Business, organization or the like.
Great Guide to have in any Business, organization or the like.I love the experience that shows in this book, mixed with the history of how Press Releases became about and how they are slightly changing as the current need for them, with the help of the Internet and the fast paced world of today that has help shape and mold them for todays need.I always felt intimidated when I would think about writing them, but now with this guide I surly have more confidence. The Author, reminds the need to have a straight forward message, with grammar as an important aspect mixed with the need to not have your Press Release sound like an advertisement.I too, found myself using the Highlighter often! There are countless examples of how to ... just as how NO to's along with a detailed Check list to keep handy when writing a Press Release. In my research on the subject, I've not found a "Check list" that compares to the one in this book.It truly is the Beginner's guide .... and an essential part of any business or organization that wants to improve what they know, start doing them with the best reference guide I've found. With his experience and expertise not only in the field but even on the Internet, I can't say enough good things for this book. Great Guide to PR Writing
At first this book reads like a commercial for the author's business but,as you move past the introduction, it becomes an interesting summary of what press releases are and why a budding business needs to focus on creating the best one possible. The author starts out with the history of press releases, explaining what they are and what use they serve. After that he moves on to building a press release. They explain terms like "boiler plate" (which I had never heard until reading this book). There are also examples of releases, as well as a checklist of "do's and don'ts." There is a section on guidelines for press release writing, including how to format it. This is followed by a section called "Dissecting Press Releases." From the title one gets the impression it is a rehash of the previous section, but this proves to be false: each chapter of this section goes further in depth, with each chapter focused on a specific part of the press release (headline, body, etc.).I'm not going to delve into the entire layout of the book. Let me just sum up by saying: if you are a business in need of a press release (or just someone who might be curious about them), this book is a great place to start.

Comprehensive and Empowering - Get This Book
This book easily earns five stars. Mickey Kennedy takes all the guesswork out of generating a successful press release, with confidence. Yet, the book does more than that. It discusses the history of press releases and the details about developing relationships with journalists and how important it is to stay on top of what is going on in your particular field of interest. His book lets readers know that creating press releases that are read and shared involves a process much more involved than simply plugging information into a template. At the same time, the how and why of each piece of info needed to create a well-written press release is fully explained. These explanations serve as triggers to help ensure that all required details are accurately placed in the final submission. Mr. Kennedy encourages noteworthy steps such as proofreading and relevant grammar checking. He even offers links to a site that can help with the grammatical aspects central to a press release. As an author, who has been seeking to understand how to write a truly professional press release, I am glad to have found out about this book.
