It says surface cleanable but is this the only way?** A: I have washed many Gund animals in the washing machine that says surface clean only. The trick is to use gentle cycle and run the toy twice through the spin cycle. I try to get as much water out using the spin cycle. I dry the toys with a fan blowing on them. DO NOT THROW IN THE DRYER! This will ruin the fur. I found the fan will take a couple of days but works very well. If you use fabric softener use it sparingly. I use about a tablespoon and a half. Less is better in my opinion. This is how I have washed many Gund and other stuffed toys and animals. I am no expert but this works for me.
