Good idea, useful. Software implementation could be better.
So, Why I got this? The typical use case is regarding people that want to transfer photos to a PC or watch movies. So the complain is that you can't watch "protected" movies (aka movies that you bought) directly from the flash drive. Thats not an issue for me because what I wanted to do is to move documents from my iPad to a PC. Currently I am presenting quite often at conferences and I am traveling your with my iPad (faster security checks, less weight, etc.). The issue is that I am editing my presentations until the very last moment so I need a reliable way to copy those presentations to the computer that we are going to use to present. Nope, most of the time people collapse when you want to connect your iPad to the projector, so basically its mandatory to use their computers. So my problem was to copy those files from the iPad to a computer. Cloud storage, I found that neither iCloud nor oneDrive are reliable for this, too many compatibility issues. Dropbox is fine but with the 2 steps authentication people will watch you entering passwords for more than one minute and they will also start commenting on the other files that you have there (i.e.: "Sales proposal for your competitor.doc"). In that way I think that this implementation is fast and simple enough.Lexar app for iOS is not great, but not necessarily worse than others that I tested. I like the dropbox implementation, although I can't copy files from dropbox to the flash drive using the Lexar app (-1 star). What I could do is to use dropbox app to export the file to "Open in" (second row on the export options of iOS) and then put in the Lexar app to later copy it to the flash drive. Not ideal because you have to open the file first, but its better than nothing.Speed. Well speed is decent enough, not the faster flash drive ever, but will get the job done. Besides, the bottle neck is not using it on a PC, is using it on iOS.To sum up. In an non ideal word where Apple limits what can be done by third parties on iOS, Lexar's implementation is decent enough to solve my problem. Is the ideal solution? No, but the level of integration with iOS that would make me happy depends on Apple, not Lexar.===============1 Hour Update: I managed to copy a file from dropbox to the flash drive using the Lexar app (+1 star). Also, I forgot to mention that the cable is pretty thick and the JumpDrive is metallic (aluminium maybe?), so it feels solid and expensive.Week 1 Update: If your are going to format the drive, be sure to keep it as "Master Boot Record" otherwise you won't be able to access it on iOS.Week 2 Update: The micro SD card can be replaced. Its located in the USB connector, a little bit tricky to pull out, but its a great thing that the memory can be expanded in a near future.

Sssssllllllllooooooowwwwwww
I bought this as a photo/video backup solution for my iPad. I don't have a computer to make iTunes backups, and I don't want to pay Apple every month for more cloud storage space, so I bought this to backup my photos & videos that I've taken on my phone, and transferred to my iPad over the years. I have 5.72gb worth of photos and videos (13,288 individual files). Starting around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon, the backup didn't finish until nearly 10am Monday. That is roughly 20hrs, meaning average write speed to the flash drive over lightning was 0.079mb/s, now that is just plain slow. Now it is a good thing that the little short cable can be used to charge your iPad while it is doing its thing, because my battery would have died twice over during the process. The app was a little wonky. If my screen would lock during the backup process, when I unlock it, I get a message saying the backup failed. So I had to disable the screen autolock, turn the brightness all the way down, and leave the thing plugged in for 20hrs until it finally completed the backup. I'm giving this thing 2 stars, because at the end of it all, it did what I wanted it to do. Docking it 3 stars for the glitchy app and extremely slow write speeds. I haven't performed a 2nd backup yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it only backs up new and updated files from this point forward. I will be upset if I have to go through this every time I want to backup my photos.

Apple Fan Must have Flash Drive
This is by far the best USB Flash drive for the price and a must have for anyone with an Iphone or Ipad. I have the 16GB memory on my Iphone6 and Ipad Air 2 , which of course limits amount od media files I can download. The extra memory (storage) provided is worth the price. I purchased the 32GB version and have loaded numerous movies onto this Lexar with no problems - the movies play back without any loss of quality on my Ipad Air and my Iphone 6. The Lexar Mobile app needed to run this Flash Drive is very easy to use and follow for accessing your downloaded files. This allows me to have movies available for long trips without having to worry about using all the memory on my Iphone or Ipad Air. this Lexar Flash Drive is the answer to all apple fans needing the extra memory.I would highly recommend this Flash Drive and clearly for the price - it is hard to beat.

I have a older version of I-Flash by Photo-Flash and it works perfect. That model does not seem to be available ...
DON'TBUY - Upon attaching to an iPhone 7 plus, the Lexar program activates, and then closes. Completely inoperable. I have a older version of I-Flash by Photo-Flash and it works perfect. That model does not seem to be available anymore.

A sanity-saver for long roadtrips lacking cell service, but durability concerns
My dilemma: A pair of 10-year olds with 16gb iPad Minis going on an incredibly long road trip where using the data plan isn't an option due to spotty cell service. I was just looking for a basic thumbdrive along with a Lightning adapter that I could store a decent amount of movies on that the kids could play directly... then I stumbled upon this product and had to give it a try, since it solved so many issues at once:1. 32gb is room for plenty of movies and shows since the kids filled up the 16gb iPads with games, apps and personal photos/videos.2. No need to purchase a Lighting-to-USB adapter and thumb drive separately.3. And the best part: It will charge the device when the USB end is in a standard charger (don't forget your USB extension cable purchase), so there's no reason to worry about draining down the ipad battery while watching a 2-hour movie.Kids are happy, kids are quiet -- I'm happy!UPDATE down to 4-Stars (July 23rd): We're down one Lexar of the two I bought as the wiring began to separate from the USB end of the connecting cable, rendering it unusable.
