I read some of the bad reviews, and was definitely hesitant to buy this product. People were complaining about the glue being really runny. Yeah, it's pretty runny, but as soon as it hits the back of the leather or the repair fabric, it gets really tacky. It runs right off the outside of the finished leather. I found it pretty easy to work with, I don't know what everyone's problem is. I had a "V" shaped tear caused by a dog in a friend's leather sofa. I used less than the recommended 1" around the tear because where the tear was located and it's shape made that impractical. I also didn't put glue on the entire patch before seating. I put some just in the corner at first, pulled the couch together, held for about 30 seconds, then used duct tape to let that part dry for 30 minutes while I worked my way down the tear. I did this about 5 times on the same patch and it turned out pretty well. The color mixing vials had bad reviews stating they were solid upon receipt. Mine were just fine. However, I quickly noticed I could not achieve the desired color using only black, brown, and white, so I used the product called "Liquid Leather Leather Touch Up Recolor Kit", which worked wonderfully. With those two products, my friends didn't even notice the repair on the couch until I told them after living with it for 1 week (on front of seat cushion).

This product worked extremely well! I have an old leather couch, and the leather had torn at the seams in a few places. I used the fabric backing patch for the largest tear, but on some smaller tears I was able to glue the leather to the seam allowance, since it tore along the stitching. After a couple of weeks it is holding very well. Comments that the glue is quite runny are true, so I recommend experimenting with it a bit to see how it works before going to work on the actual repair. Once I knew what to expect, I didn't have any trouble with the glue. The plastic tool that is included in the package comes in handy for spreading the glue around. Note that this review is for the glue only. I did not use the color restorer, since the entire couch is scuffed and worn, and the repairs really don't show much since they're along the seams. Highly recommended.

Originally discovered this product from it's associated Bish's original Tear Mender (TM) adhesive reviews so I gave it a shot. Kit includes 3 colors, black, brown and white, Tear mender adhesive, section of cloth <for larger rips, alcohol swab and plastic spatula. Purchased to fix numerous (small to large 2") rips, touched up worn areas on a black leather chair. For small rips pinhole -1/8" (4 stars) applied TM adhesive over ripped areas and the holes closed but I can still visually see where the tears were. For larger rips (3stars) 1" to 2" I was suppose to use the cloth section, but I didn't. I applied TM adhesive and joined the ripped areas together; it did seal the rip however it also caused a depression in the area where the rip was due to the unavoidable TM liquid adhesive bonding with the cushion padding below. Had i used the cloth provided it probably wouldn't have depressed however I think i would still see the gap where the material ripped. I have other gripes with this product, although TM adhesive is a nontoxic liquid latex and can be applied with your fingers. The bottle cap either seals or dispenses the liquid (if you poke a hole in the cap tip), it can't be precisely applied with a spatula, nor is it useful as a filler (like bondo), and goes everywhere. Colors wise, the black matches but is glossier than my dull leather. In conclusion the Kit does seal the rips, however it will not look like they were never there. TM Adhesive is difficult to work with, and on the plus side it isn't harder than the leather. As a system, an eyedropper may help with application however it's still not perfect. Due to the imprecise method of applying the adhesive be wary of spills when working with the adhesive on carpeted areas. It wasn't a complete waste, personally I think the TM adhesive product isn't suited for this type of project however, it can be useful for endless other applications.

I am very disappointed. The bottle of adhesive arrived solid foam and not useable. Another whole kit was sent to replace it, and the second bottle also arrived solid and not useable. Unfortunately, I had already prepped the upholstery area of my car leather seat, so it is all ready to apply adhesive, and none to apply!! If you do get this kit, open the bottle FIRST before you so any prep to make sure you got a good bottle.

I am relatively handy when it comes to all things DIY, but either I just don't get the concept of this repair kit or it doesn't work for me. First of all, on the cover is a burnt orange couch. I've been an artist my entire life, and I see no way this kit would ever have created a perfectly (or even remotely) blended burnt orange from the colors included, which are black, white, and dark brown. Second, I grew up helping my Mom, a very talented seamstress, make and repair clothing and craft items, and this glue doesn't seem any different than what I'd imagine watered-down Alene's Tacky Glue to be. But be gentle with the dispensing of the glue. It is very runny. My cracks weren't big enough to use the denim swatch of fabric they included. So I followed the directions and was rather underwhelmed with the results. After completing the repairs as instructed for two distinctly different sections of couch, I decided to just try and apply the glue as a filler straight from the bottle. That seemed to work better. I let it settle in the cracks and dry for an hour and a half, undisturbed. The good thing about the glue is you can peel it up and bead I together with your fingers, which is what I did. The parts the filled in the cracks were not flush or flat, so I tried to file them a bit. (There is no sandpaper or board included, by the way.) it didn't really help, so then I moved to the black paint, no color mixing needed. All-in-all, I feel that the cracks I had before are now just black cracks. Maybe they are less noticable from afar, but I would not recommend this for undetectable repairs on seat cracks and rips from normal useage and wear. Looks pretty terrible.
