WP74 - Favorite Classic Melodies - Level 2 - Bastien Paperback – January 1, 1981

One of the good old stand by's! This book is more advanced than your typical level 2 piano student will be able to easily play though. I typically use this book AFTER a student has completed Bastien level 2, or when they are working on level 3. Older methods like the Bastien Piano Library moved faster than today's Bastien Piano Basics, but the Bastien student should still be able to play upon completing level 2. Alfred or Faber students might be better to wait until completing their level 3 curriculum before using this book (unless for recital pieces). This book assumes the piano student can play in C, F, D, and G major, and a and d minor, incorporates moving on both hands, all primary chords (I, IV, V7, and V), broken chords, and scale patterns. It has a great selection of songs- some slow ballads, a few fast pieces, and most of them are well known (even today!)

I have a few piano students at different levels and just got this book to check it out for the next level for a student. The songs look like he will have fun trying them and not be overwhelmed.

I use this method and have been using it for years for my piano students. The pieces seem less altered from their original states and generally the selections that are in there are good ones.

Have used this book with almost all of my students. I use this instead of lesson books in most cases. Students learn the classics and musical concepts on piano at same time. Great price!

This book is the second level classical book it has good selections and it written simple enough for the students to make progress.I am a piano instructor that teaches students to play for personal enjoyment and not for a music career However I do want to expose my children to classical literature. I think this book helps me accomplish this purpose

Great song book that my teacher told me to pick up for my lessons. I liked the difficulty progression of the songs (granted this is a beginner book so it doesn't get too intense). I've been playing for six months and just finished it this past week but I feel that this book really helped increase my confidence and my ability to play the piano.
