Q: How many goldfish do you recommend

Goldfish need at least 20 gallons so please don't put any in this bowl. Betta fish need at least 3 gallons with 5-10 gallons being preferable. Most nano fish are schooling fish and will need at least 5 gallons. You could definitely do some pretty aquatic plants in a bowl though. Or possibly even small shrimp or snails.

Q: Does someone who didn't give it as a gift, know what the diameter of the bowl is?

Hi Matthew - the bowl at it's fattest point across is 8 1/2 inches. opening at top is 5 1/2 inches, and height is about 8 inches.

I would say that the dimensions of this particular fish bowl are approximately 9 inches wide by maybe 9 inches tall.....I went back to a drum type bowl for my betta, because it just isn't tall enough for him to swim....however there is more room circular for him....I didn't particularly like the style of it once I got it home and used it for a while....it kind of magnifies everything....and believe it or not, kind of makes it hard to see your pet. I hope this has helped somewhat.

Q: would you be able to put a balla shark and betta in there

Bala sharks and Betta fish would not get along, and bala sharks get way too big. But one betta would work if you had a heater and did water changes every other day.
