1 Peter: A Living Hope in Christ - Bible Study Book (The Gospel Coalition)

This was for my Bible study class and it was very good.

Jen Wilken is my GAL. I have done a lot of women's bible studies over the years and I love that this is a deep and insightful study of scripture - no fluff here. Jen has you reference back to a lot of OT scriptures so you can better understand the passage that you are reading in full context - I love that.I work in college ministry and have walked through this with my girls and they also love it! This book makes you think! Jen is a great teacher of the Word because she makes you find the answers - she won't just come right out and tell you. Absolutely recommend this and Jen's other guides and books.

The book is awesome. Motivating to be in less "flesh mode" or take advice from a "dead woman" aka: the lust of my personal flesh. In this group study the teacher/author in video is a annoying, feel sorry for her kids that will rebel against control freak mom. She'll mellow with age and the broken heart of having teens and young adults. She is young, she speaks to those who are starting out or not exactly Bible Scholars. With the tactics of not reading commentaries, or looking up scripture is a little hard to do with seasoned readers. There are just too many things you can't unlearn. Great tactics for beginners though.

Studied this with my women's Bible study and it really highlighted things that I didn't see in 1 Peter(: highly recommend but be sure to dedicate some time to really going through the sections (:

My church did this as a ladies’ study. Jen does a great job!

I overall enjoyed this study. It truly dissected 1 Peter as we went through the book line by line and would re-read the book multiple times throughout the study. This book definitely takes some thought, and some ideas will lead you down a rabbit hole of many verses. I utilized an ESV study Bible, which was super helpful flipping to the referenced verses.I gave a 4 because there were questions in every chapter that were hard to answer without a little more guidance, and the videos did not address. My book has little question marks scattered throughout because I didn’t understand what the question was asking. Overall this was a good study and would recommend to those who enjoy dissection of the details and really forming an understanding of the words chosen to make up scripture.

I will read, listen & study anything by Jen Wilkin
