I want to blue a s&w model 30 .32 cal revolver for a friend. i am not a gunsmith, what steel wool should i use on it to prep for blue?

Are you stripping off all the old blue?. If so I would use naval jelly applied with 00 steel wool.(rubber gloves!) Clean off the Naval Jelly mess with water. Dry all the parts well with a dryer of some sort and keep it dry so it doesn't start to rust . Follow the directions on the Oxpho. There are also several good You Tubes where they use the Oxpho. I like to polish with 000 wool in between coats until I get the color and finish I want. You will get out of this project how much you put into it. I've done a couple of 22's, shotguns and an antique rifle This stuff can really do a great job.

Is this the cream or the liquid ?

It is a thick liquid like a lotion, the labeling uses the term cream. I applied it with a flux brush to the metal. I was not using it to blue firearms.

How much area will this amount cover?

It takes very little to "Cold Blue" touch-up an entire rifle. The darker you want to make it the more you use. I would say that it could do 2-3 rifles easily!

Is this better than the liquid version in any capacity?

I personally prefer the liquid, seems easier to work with!
