Creative Grids 8-1/2in Square It Up or Fussy Cut Square Quilt Ruler - CGRSQ8

This is not a “standard” quilting ruler so it’s usefulness is limited really to fussy cutting. It’s not what I thought I was ordering, only has 1/2” markings so unless you are fussy cutting a specific piece out for a I spy quilt or something like that or an 8. 1/2 inch square this isn’t a ruler you will reach for often. I do love creative grids rulers since they are non slip bit this one is a disappointment compared to standard rulers with all the markings because of its limited use. I did not return it but probably should have since I hardly touch it.

I've been making mask after mask after mask, and have little problem rotary cutting overall design fabric, but if I wanted to use something with a specific design that needs to be zeroed in on, I was using a cardboard window template that my husband made for me. That worked well, but holy cow, this ruler is so much better. I can use the rotary cutter and not worry about hurting the cardboard. I can use it to view exactly what I'm cutting.

I won't use anything but Creative Grids rulers anymore, they're the best! The grips on the bottom really keep it from sliding on your fabric.I bought this one 8.5 inch square to square up my blocks for this quilt...

This ruler is very good for fussy cuts. I also purchased it to square up my economy blocks. Unfortunately, there are markings at each edge of the ruler that block my view of the points on my economy blocks. I had to purchase a different 8.5 inch ruler to square up economy blocks.

Very easy to use and completely accurate.

I am a big Creative Grids fan! I have several different rules by them. They are the best I have found.

I also used this to fussy cut as well as square up. It worked well for both purposes. I like the fact that the ruler does not slip due to the etched dots on the back. Creative Grids are my favorite templates and rulers

Creative Grids rulers are wonderful. Very easy to use and the rulers have a coating on the underside to eliminate slipping. This 12-1/2" square ruler was perfect for a specific quilt but useful for most squaring-up jobs. I would recommend it.
