I really love how chic and neat it looks on the kitchen counter. One might almost mistake it for a cookie jar. It’s pretty heavy and is made of thick ceramic. Size is perfect if you empty it every day which I do. Folks who empty kitchen trash once a couple of days might find it too small. It comes with a filter mesh inside the lid. The lid also has a gasket, but it is not snug fitting. You can use it lined with a small-sized compostable garbage bag or unlined. If using unlined, you will need to wash it every day. It is expensive for a garbage bin, but there are not many cute-looking options on the market that you can display on the kitchen counter. I don’t like hiding kitchen trash bin out of reach, because that makes it more difficult to put away trash. Hence this works perfect for me. It does reduce the amount of fruit flies if you follow best practices, although there will still be a couple but I am totally okay with that because it’s only natural that fruit flies are drawn to the smell of fermentation even when it’s not discernible to humans.
