Great product, came as advertised
I bought these to see how appropriate they would be for camping before putting I. A bullet oder. First off, I'm leaving a five star review because the product received matched the description (and in the world if military surplus that's not always guarenteed). As far as I'm concerned anything beyond that is gravy, but I'll leave some more details for people unfamiliar with MREs.These packs are designed for active duty soldiers, so one contains ALOT of calories, certainly more than I eat in a sitting. Each pack contains a variety of foods in addition to the entree, usually a healthy snack and a desert item, as well as things like instant coffee or fruit punch. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the snacks and desert items (and to find that the US military agrees that apple jelly is the best jelly). There's not a lot of love out there for MRE entrees, but they get the job done and have a good amount of protein, and personally I thought they tasted fine.As for utility in a camping situation, I would say these are better for short trips or as survival rations. They are heavier than a lot of the freeze dried options out there, and beyond a two day trip the weight advantage of not carrying a stove would be negated. They are also generate a fair bit of trash. However, they are ideal for a day trip, having hot food is always nice, and with the aforementioned calorie count one of these is enough for lunch and trail snacks for one person. They are also great for cqmping trips with kids, who always seem to get a kick out of the chemical heating element/ eating what soldiers eat. I also think they make great survival rations for short term situations, like blizzards and hurricane. Using a camp stove inside is not advisable, and hot food can really lift spirits in the event of a power outage. Overall I'd say if your on the fence, go ahead and order a few to try out for yourself, but I personally plan to buy a case after my initial impression.

Excellent MRE
Let me start off by saying I didn't receive this product for free or at a discount for an honest review. I purchased this at full price and it was definitely worth the money! When the package arrived its contents were neatly packaged in the box. The MRE didn't have any rips or tears at all. The seller really inspects these well. My MRE was the Mexican Style Chicken Stew. I was expecting a lot worse but I actually enjoyed it! I did use the heater that came with the package because I didn't want it to go to waste. It only took a couple of minutes to fully heat. The entree itself wasn't bad. It reminded me of a Brunswick Stew I used to buy in cans. In the package there was also a pack of vegetable crackers, M&M's, Cheese flavored pretzels (tasted like a combo), Two cheese packets, Fruit punch drink mix, and assorted condiments, spoon, matches, gum, applesauce, coffee, toilet paper and hot beverage bag. I had snacks for an entire day and a filling dinner. I still can't believe how much food fit into the package. I definitely will be ordering more because they are great for camping, hiking, or even just to eat when you don't feel like cooking. I highly recommend this seller and MRE!

so that's good. The rest of this is my review of ...
Ok, first let me say that I ordered from Western Frontier, and the MREs I got were totally genuine and as described, so that's good. The rest of this is my review of MREs in general. This is first time I've ever had one. I bought 3 to bring on an over night hiking trip.Pros:They contain EVERYTHING you need to eat them, you don't need a spoon, fork, or even a cup (they have a beverage bag you can use just in case). They also contain little niceties like a moist towelette. This makes them excellent to just throw them in a pack and go.If you assume 3 per day, they have plenty of calories to keep you going. I definitely wasn't hungry. One thing I wasn't expecting though is that most MREs come with a large pouch of peanut butter or cheese spread, so you have to be prepared just like.. eat a bunch of peanut butter out of a tube if you want to get the last 1/3 of the calories. The heater packs work awesome and are really convenient. They're pretty light too, so they don't feel like a waste of weight.Cons:A downside of everything being included is that these are pretty heavy, and a lot of the weight is wasted on things you only really need one of, like the plastic spoon these come with. On the plus side, the plastic spoons are so heavy and durable that I'm going to put them in with my regular silverware.Flavor wise.. I'd call them neutral. I eat lunch at a gas station most days, so I wouldn't say I have a refined palette. I'd put them on the scale next to canned food. Like it's not bad, but you don't really look forward to it unless you're hungry.Overall, I'd say I'm happy with my purchase, but I'm glad I didn't go and buy a whole case right away.

Really good product
Watched MRE reviews on youtube and decided to give it a shot. The first part i liked is the package arrived 4 days earlier than originally projected, very prompt service. From there I had my MRE and decided to open it with my family to try it out in a similar fashion. I was very pleasantly surprised by the contents and how well they were packaged. The coffee was truly some of the best I've ever had. The toaster pastry (totally not a poptart) was tasty and appropriately textured. Pretty much everything was very tasty. The biggest surprised was the main entree. I got number 18 beef ravioli and it was great especially with the packaged hot sauce and salt. MRE's support our troops and are used in relief efforts. I bought this on a whim to try it out. I have to say this company makes really good MRE's that have great food, great drinks, and would be a joy to receive. Really good product, I'm going to order again :)
