The temperature reading and the microchip number are shown on the scanning device. Home Again DOES make temp scan chips! I am not completely sure but believe that the HomeAgain size XS chip (inserted with a 15 gauge needle) does not provide temperature info while the standard HomeAgain chip (inserted with a 12 gauge needle) does provide temperature info on the scanning device. **Q: how you track the dog????** A: This is just a chip. You have to scan the dog to get the ID. If you want to track the dog, there are tracking devices you put on their collar that is completely separate. **Q: So does this have to be done by a vet?
