Great for teaching children shapes, colors, spatial dimensions, fostering creativity and exploring their imagination
This is an amazing set for any parent or teacher to own. It can help teach children colors, shapes, spatial awareness, etc. Plus, it will allow them to be creative and develop their imagination. This set even comes with spinners and wheels! This means the children can create moving parts, vehicles, and more. There are also add on sets that you can buy to create even more options. The pieces are heavy duty and made to withstand the rough abuse that children can do to their toys. This toy is extremely safe and extremely durable in addition to being educational. I encourage parents to ask their children questions about the colors and shapes as they play. Use the listing of contents as a guide if you are unsure of the proper term to use to call each shape. The only thing I really can complain about is the price. At close to $150 for this set, most parents and teachers cannot afford it. I wouldn't have been able to afford it without being given the item as a Vine member. I am a teacher and my students are obsessed with this toy. It is a definitely win in my classroom and I think it will be in most young classrooms and possibly some older classrooms. My little students are now engineers. I highly recommend this set if the cost is not an issue.

This is THE gift to give Children this year - 2016!!!
If you are going to buy your child only one big (price wise) gift this year for Christmas, Hanukkah, birthday, etc. this GeoSmart Educational Set, 100 Pieces should be it! Buy this toy!!! If I could I would give it 10 stars and 5A+++. Someone with a brain or a team with a brain designed it. I opened the set with no kids around (my boys are grown-up) and got myself lost in making things and seeing what this GeoSmart Set could do. I made a mini-version of the Pope-mobile. As a quilter, I was putting together some quilt blocks. You or your child could spend hours making things and rearranging the pieces. I can hardly wait for my cleaning lady to bring her boy over for him to play with the set as I know he will love it.Of note, just like my other favorite children’s toy, LEGO Classic Large Creative Brick Box 10698 , this set also has more sets that can be purchased with will add on more pieces and more specialized pieces to make all sorts of interesting things, especially space related. With the other sets, you can make a GeoSmart Lunar Rover , GeoSmart GeoSpace Station , GeoSmart Solar Spinner , etc. Of course, as anyone knows that the more sets of Legos you have the more things you can make whether the Lego folks thought of it or not. The add on sets to the GeoSmart main set works the same way and we aren’t talking 3-4 piece sets. Some of the add-on sets have 70 more pieces including the specialty pieces for that set.I was delighted to find that the pieces were much bigger than they looked on the computer. For instance, the wheels for the set are 2 1/2” across, the square pieces are 2 ½” on all sides. The set is for ages 5+ and up, so the bigger pieces will be easier to manipulate for small hands. They seem just the right size for making projects so they don’t get way too big or too tiny to work with. The set is made in nice bright colors and the different colors come in multiples of two, four or six, so whatever you are making you can have a matching color on the opposite side of the first color. The magnets are imbedded in the pieces and don’t feel sharp at all. All pieces seem to be big enough so that younger brothers and sisters can’t swallow the pieces. This is a great set and I highly recommend it! An investment for years of creative play
This is a wonderful building set for children. I hesitate to say "toy" because it's so much more than that. It's fun and easy to use, the magnets are strong and the shapes hold together very well, and it encourages imagination and creativity. The colors are bright and vibrant and add to the pleasure of using. You can make any wacky shape you want as the kit includes squares, triangles, isosceles triangles, trapeziods, diamonds and rectangles. What I like most about this building set is that it appeals to a wide age range and there are additional sets which can be purchased to expand the possibilities. The recommended age range is 5+ but we've been playing with our 3+ yr old grandson and he has as much fun as grandpa does. We create and reinforce basic shapes, like square and triangle but also build things. The kit offers spinners which our grandson likes more than the tires right now. We create different shapes for the spinner. I can see this set being played with for many years, with the occasional add on piece for variety. This is an expensive set, no doubt, but an investment also for years of creative play.

Hugely versatile blocks with easy cleanup
Having owned smaller sets of these magnetic blocks, I can say that this larger set really opens up the possibilities and is ideal for 2 or 3 builders at a time. They are pricey, but they hold up well. Sometimes my kids and I will just build rockets and send them plunging into the ground to watch them collapse. It's fun, and we have yet to damage any of the pieces. There are a ton of things you can do with this set. You can build. You can teach geometry or physics. You can make jewelry. But the best feature of all is how easily they clean up. It's simply a matter of taking clumps of pieces, since they stick together so well, and tossing them in a bag.My kids are about 6 right now and they continually return to this set to play. That's saying a lot because there are few toys they have that they play with consistently. The price is steep, so it probably makes more sense for a classroom than the home playroom, but it's a great physical alternative to the screen time kids get these days. It's hard to find toys that can compete.
