DON’T DO IT!!!!!
I gave it 1 star just to acknowledge the effort that went into creating this product.Look I’m not a guy who turns my nose up to non-alcoholic beverages. I can enjoy a Budweiser Zero or other non-alcoholic beer.So when I saw this product advertised, out of curiosity I bought a bottle. After all why not?Lemme tell you all about this. First off, as soon as you pull the cork out, the aroma is a slap in the face to all bourbons everywhere. It smells like the aftertaste of vomit in your mouth. So right out the gate things weren’t looking good. But I was committed to trying it out so I dug in and prepared myself.I put a large ball in my glass and poured this over it. I let it settle for a few minutes before taking a sip. Oh my god it was bad. I can’t put it any other way. It begins with a familiar oak taste but a second after hitting my tongue, there was that vomit taste again with a prune finish. I had to force it down because I didn’t want to be wasteful.A week later I thought I would give it another try. But after a few sips I gave up. I poured out the glass and poured the rest of the bottle down the sink. The whole kitchen smelled like vomit and prunes for about a half hour afterward.I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone. If you’re looking for a non-alcoholic bourbon, this ain’t it. In fact you may just have to face reality. Because I have zero faith in these products now.I’ll be sticking with the real thing and only the real thing from now on. I had hoped to dabble with creating a non-alcoholic Old Fashioned with this, but I think I’ll go back to experimenting with iced tea to find that proper fix.And I’ll stick with my Woodford, Buffalo Trace, and Bulleitt for myself.I normally don’t leave reviews for products on here. I just buy my stuff and mind my own business. But I can’t in good conscience stay silent. If you’re reading this, trust me. It’s not worth it.Find something else.

Make a mocktail, don't drink straight and expect good results
I love this stuff. I'm trying to drink less but I love sharing a cocktail with my husband in the evening and this product helps me do so with satisfaction. I fill an old fashioned glass with ice. I add about 2 oz of this product and also about 1/2 a teaspoon- 1 tsp of Bittermilk No.1 which adds a little sweetness. Ia gree with other reviewers that say this doesn't necessarily taste like my favorite whiskeys but it helps me make an old fashioned "like" cocktail that tastes great and also goes great with an ounce of dark chocolate for my favorite after dinner treat! I like to keep it low cal and low sugar and simple, but the other recipes by Free Spirit sound good to try as well.

Liquid Ashtray Misery
TLDR save your money. If you like the feeling of being punched in the throat with pepper and enjoy drinking whole cigars instead of smoking them, this is for you.My fiancé and I were hopeful that we had found a way to share a drink together. He doesn’t drink anymore but liked the idea of sharing a drink with me with a taste-a-like. Unfortunately this is not pleasant in any way and we are keeping it as a prank drink. Or the ultimate bad drink in a drink roulette. The first notes when swished in your mouth simulate some of the fruity and corn notes of bourbon, which is quite pleasant. But then, when you swallow, you get hit in the throat with a capsaicin ash tray. A flavor that then infects the rest of your mouth. I’m guessing this is to simulate the “burn” of bourbon, but I have never had a bourbon burn me as bad as this. Not even the unrefined and unfiltered kinds.I’m honestly disappointed because I was so hopeful for this to be good, and somewhat comparable to the pleasant tasting notes of bourbon. But the attempt to (poorly) simulate the alcohol burn misses the mark and ruins the experience.

wasn't impressed, overall
Very citrusy/light/sour on the front end, when it's first sipped. Tastes like a fairly light bodied bourbon on the back end. This is my very 1st experience with non-alcoholic spirits, however.Usually enjoy bourbon with a good cigar - wasn't impressed, overall.

Best AF brand I have found- Mocktail!
In my effort to cut back/take a break from alcohol, I tried a couple options and did not care for them. I tried the Free Spirits bourbon and found it satisfying. Do not buy if you want it straight, it is NOT bourbon! It is meant to be a mixer. I mainly make Old Fashions with it. My OF mix is some OF mixer (pre-mixed), Bourbon cherries, FS Bourbon, and sugar free Tonic. I tried it with just regular water and it was OK, put a little tonic in instead and it adds that little extra needed to back down the false bite they try to give the bourbon. The flavor is good and it works for me! Just need a Free Spirit Vodka now! No 5 stars as it is not yet "perfect", but as close as I have found outside of real bourbon. It is a bit pricey though...more expensive that a bottle of average bourbon. However, you don't need a LOT in your glass, half FS and half Tonic, good to go!

Worth a try
Pretty squarely a three. Not good, but I didn’t find it gross either. I probably won't buy it again.I just thought it would be worth a try. I like the ritual of making a cocktail in the evening and it’s satisfied that itch. The cocktail tasted OK. It was a little hot as others said. But I think that’s what you’re going for, that alcohol burn right? Something has to replace it.The NA beers taste way better. If you’re just looking to cut down your alcohol, I think that’s a better way to go.

Bourbon lovers don’t set yourself up for this disappointment.
Bourbon lovers don’t set yourself up for this disappointment.Decided to go alcohol free for a while. Was an avid bourbon drinker. After much research into the nonalcoholic whiskeys I settled on this. Not good. I knew it wasn’t going to be an exact substitute for whiskey but I wasn’t expecting it to taste like I’m drinking musty jalapeño juice. Just save your money. That’s the part that stings the most, it costs as much as the real thing.
