While I might not use the strategies shared in this book, like all DK books, this was a good read.

A Textbook For Speakers
I've seen Dan Kennedy speak many times. I never thought of him as funny, but I have thought of him as very bright and "witty". I'm surprised that this is the first review. This book is really well written, and Kennedy has mastered the art of showing how to get value out of everything he writes. This book is realy an encyclopedia of all the different types of humor that are used in speaking from the platform. Dan explains how to use each of them so you don't irritate the entire crowd.Dan gives the reasons you should want to make the audience laugh, and why it helps when you are selling. He covers using self depricating humor to make the audience identify with you...but not look like a fool.Dan talks about the many different ways to "Cheat", that is; get a laugh without being funny yourself. For most of us, this material alone is worth the price of the book.Dan covers they different types of stories that are humorous, and how to structure them. He tells about several of his stories, and how he put them together to help pull the audience along ...toward buying.Kennedy uses lots of example of different types of humor to control the audience. He uses examples from talk show hosts, comedians, and humorous speakers. He gives reasons to know your audience ahead of your getting up to speak, and why you should listen to the speaker before you.If you are looking for a funny book about speaking...this isn't it. I didn't laugh out loud once while reading. I was too busy taking notes and using a yellow highlighter.By the way, he swears several times in the book. So, if you are seven years old, and want to be a comedian, this book isn't for you. But if you are an adult speaker, and want to know a proven way to engage the audience...this is THE book.

USING HUMOR IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE
Since I know that finding a lighter side to most issues is vital to a healthy existence, I enjoyed Dan Kennedy's take on the subject. My theory in business: there are two bottom lines. One is the profit, the other is enjoying the journey. One without the other brings a dismal work life which then impacts other relationships. This book will teach you how to get to both profit and joyfulness. If you wish to extend your search for laughter to bringing up kids, dealing with dogs or drought, caring for husbands who watch re-runs of last night's highlights of every sport in the universe and anything else that is part of an active family life you can find that in the older first survival book at Amazon[[ASIN:0595174256 Still Hanging In There: Confessions of a Totaled Woman. For the more mature and hot women who have survived so much more in a fully lived life, information for the newest humorous endurance book STRETCH MARKS: Ageless Wisdom for SEXY OLD BABES due out next year can be viewed at [...] If you need advice that does not require a serious answer write to me at [...] Till then here is what I want you to do and remember "Nagging" is my life". Oh stop grimacing. Remember, Plato was a Nag, too! Enjoy Mr. Kennedy's book and see how quickly your life improves. Just Do It!Jan MarshallFounder, International Humor & Healing Institute

Bring on the laugh's
Yet another great book from Dan Kennedy. As security consultant and sales professional like to bring dumb criminal's story's to the table keeping the atmosphere light is one of the best ways to break down buying barriers. This book gives you the do's and don'ts and lists of people have made them work. And a few that have fallen flat on their faces by getting it so, wrong. If your sales or marketing presentation is a little flat or you just want to be better this is a must read. Take the advice than look at your own story. Now bring a little of yourself and have some fun with your customers GKIC style.

Entertaining and instructive...
As always Dan Kennedy tells a compelling story which entertains us but at the same time he gives us lessons in how to apply what he's doing (has done) to our own businesses (or lives, for that matter). As a long time Dan Kennedy student, this book has given me insight into how he crafts his messages and presentations while showing me how to do the same to improve the effectiveness of my own communications with customers, clients and employees.A definite must-read for all business owners.

Tips on priming your audience with humor
In addition to containing some funny material you can swipe, this book contains how to deliver your humor...timing, voice, propriety, etc.Dan Kennedy is the master of NO BS books, that while containing a heavy dose of self-promotion, also contain to-the-point writing. Lots of authors fill in space with fluff and long prose. Not Dan.I have many Dan Kennedy books, and this is not his best, but if you follow the Dan Kennedy systems of success, you know that making successful presentation are key, whether they are large public speaking engagements, small group consultations, or one on one selling. This book focuses on that part of your presentation that sets the tone. Humor is disarming. Master it and you will increase your success.

Essential book about an essential skill
One of Dan Kennedy's most recent and least-hyped books -- which is too bad, as it offers some high-level thinking about crafting effective speeches and presentations, while also providing some great resources for further close study. Kennedy has relied on this aspect of sales more than most people realize. Building rapport is a critical sales skill, and humor can be a very effective tool for achieving that end. Likewise, the wrong kind of humor can ruin a promising client relationship before it starts.Grael Norton, Senior Faculty, AuthorsAcademy.com
