they no longer send the celluloid ball, they only send you the crappy new plastic poly balls.
I use Amazon Prime all the time and make several purchases on Amazon based on reviews, so I rarely write reviews unless a product is simply outstanding. I have purchased and tried every top tier table tennis ball out there, and I can honestly say these balls are hands-down the best ball you will find anywhere. They're made in factories in Japan, as opposed to many balls that misrepresent their actual origin of production and instead come from China (beware there is a big market of knock-off table tennis balls out there). The celluloid balls are obviously no longer ITTF approved since they switched to the new plastic Polystyrene "poly" balls in 2014, so this is why you sometimes will not see balls like this in some top recommendation categories, because they cannot legally be used in competition play. The new poly balls are also larger than the 40mm celluloids with a rougher surface, which slows down the speed of play. The Nittaku celluloid balls are extremely durable and I guarantee you they will never crack as a result of regular play (the only way I have ever damaged these balls is from them landing on pebbles of concrete, etc. on floor the floor). If you are looking for the superior control and fast pace velocity game that you get with the Celluloid balls, you will not find anything better on the market then these Nittaku 3-star 40mm Celluloid balls.

Celluloid Love!!! <3
Received 21MAR2024. Confirmed celluloid! Been looking everywhere for these classic balls since the ITTF made the switch for official ping pong balls to be made of ABS plastic a few years back. There's nothing quite like a genuine celluloid ping pong ball: the feel, the bounce, the flammability. Practically perfect in every way! Thank you to this seller for keeping the celluloid balls alive.

Good bounce, weight
Good bounce, weight ,and visibility. Tracks a bit slower on shots. Maybe because of weight and size. Still pricey.

These balls are the best. Extremely durable
These balls are the best. Extremely durable...I've had 1 ball that I've been using for an hour a day for 2 months, and it still hasn't cracked yet! Great spin. There is a reason the US and Canadian Teams use these.

Counterfiet?
I ordered these balls only to find that these are completely different from the ones my friend ordered from the same link. The ones my friend ordered were solid, has very good weight and was very durable. They looked authentic. The ones I received look like counterfeit. The Nittaku print is not clear (see the word "PREMIUM" in the image) and the print is actually smaller than the original ball. I also see the dividing line in the ball which are usually seen in cheap balls but not in premium balls (see the image).Returning these balls. Beware of these.

May 2021 these are definitely celluloid ping pong balls
I bought these to make flammable nitrocellulose lacquer to waterproof fuses for fireworks. Tested one of the balls by burning a small slice of it. It burned completely with no smoke and left behind only a TINY bit of residue. Look for the 40 to get the celluloid balls. The 40+ are plastic

some of the best balls in the the pre-plastic era
some of the best balls in the the pre-plastic era. still useful for practice, though official tournaments now implement the 40+ poly balls.I ma sure the plastic balls from Nitaku will also be of world standard. a bit expensive.
