fascinating book that goes behind the scenes of Rock's life. More like a galley edition, lots of printers errors, but still charming and has loads of information you won't find anywhere else. Not sure how much of the authors claims are 100% true - but certainly some of the stuff cross references accurately with other books i have read about Rock. All in all, a great buy!

Pourtant ayant lu plusieurs biographies étayées du comédien je dois dire que c'était la première fois que j'entendais mentionner son nom. Ce n'est pas le seul paradoxe de cette anthologie fouillis riche en photographies inédites, en documents rares, en anecdotes peut-être apocryphes, en erreurs et en coquilles. En effet si l'auteur dénigre avec une certaine violence le secrétaire et le dernier amant de l'acteur qu'il taxe, entre autres, de profiteurs et de manipulateurs , quelle n'est pas la surprise du lecteur, à la fin de l'ouvrage, de trouver les coordonnées d'un site internet où le prétendu grand ami de Rock propose à la vente un bric-à-brac hétéroclite qu'il tiendrait du comédien décédé. Cherchez l'erreur. Nonobstant cette grosse réserve, cet ouvrage mérite le détour pour tout inconditionnel de Rock et s'avère nettement supérieur au tome 2 dans lequel notre auteur se met bien trop ostensiblement en scène.

What a fascinating effort this book is, over 300 large size pages full of extremely rare photographs and fascinating behind the scenes stories of Rock's life. As the author says, this book is an "Un-Corrected Proof," meaning there are typos and mis-spellings (i.e., Bette Midler's name is spelled "Middler") but that's part of the charm. This is obviously a labor of love. The author was an insider in Rock's life for a long period of time. He knows, and tells, what really went on, and illustrates the text with rare photos and memorabilia he inherited from Rock himself. As paperback books go, it's pricy, but worth it. You just don't see books like this. It must have a fairly limited print run and the color printing on so many pages couldn't have been cheap. If you're interested at all in Rock Hudson or Hollywood inside stories this book is a must-have and probably will become a collector's item.

Reading this book, you'll have a wonderful insight view of Rock's behind-the-screen life, the man behind the movie star, his friends, his tastes, his life style from the inner. You'll find many items that Rock once owned and also a lot of anecdotes about him.....It's a `scrap-book' of Rock's life... not a classical biography. So don't expect a chronological review of his career but the book is done by themes and anecdotes.So really a must-have book for any Rock Hudson's fan. I was delighted as this item arrived today, I have been unable to put it down as it is a very interesting book. I would recommend it to everyone who has enjoyed reading about Rock Hudson's life or watching his movies. I have been a fan since 1954 and have a wonderful collection of DVDs and books. This book has been written by a very loyal friend and sections have brought a tear to the eye. Congratulations to Martin for such intimate revelations. Will be looking forward to the follow up book.
