Works well to mash down really hard while cooking ground beef for homemade Sloppy Joe's. Breaks up the meat into fine pieces, tenderizing at the same time. You can see the tiny pieces of meat push right up through the holes and the sauce will cover it all, making a nice blend. No big chewy chunks. Nice kitchen tool to have.

Used this to mash some creamy mashed potatoes. Very easy. Metal did not deform.

Ive had plastic mashers and other metal mashers in the past that eventually break or bend. This one is very high quality and has a good size to it. Makes a smooth mashing of potatoes and carrots without much force, and doesn't seem to bend easily. Great solid masher and very comfortable to handle.

This is a very nice potato masher--or a masher for other soft foods. It does a nice, complete job, is easy to hold and it washes up nicely. I like it better than my "old fashioned" potato masher.

This is the best potato masher I’ve had. Being stainless steel is great (my old cheap grocery store one rusted) but the handle of the OXO masher is the absolute best part of this tool! It’s comfortable to use. My old masher had a straight handle which could be hard and painful to use. The gridded bottom that smashes the potatoes is curved perfectly to hit the bottom of the pan right up to the sides. Plus it’s good sized so less smashing is needed! OXO products are fairly inexpensive for such well made and well thought out designs. I highly recommend this masher.

I purchased this due to its oblong shape for use in round pots/bowls, the sharp inner surfaces of the cuts for potato mashing, its stainless steel build material and it being an OXO product- a firm whose products I have never been disappointed with. I also liked its ability to use two hands on the handle, if necessary. I just tried it out mashing some Purple Viking potatoes out of my garden and this masher worked perfectly! I prefer chunks in my mashed potatoes and my wife prefers very creamy mashed potatoes. The oblong shape allowed the mashing edges to comfortably ride against the inside of the round pot without missing any of the potatoes (I suspect it would not work as well if mashing in a bowl that is shaped anything other than roundish.) It was easy to get a very creamy potato mixture with only one small chunk noted.

Seems to have much more control and power using this than traditional masher. Only time will tell if the flat part will bend. Otherwise looks solid and feels good in your hands.
