I switched my dell 3511 from a tiny1"x1" ssd to longer1"x3" m2ssd. can i use this insulator inside the aluminum heat shield?

I have a Dell G15 5515, which has two M2 slots using copper heat shields. I use these thermal pads inside both. For the main drive I went from a 512 Gb drive to a 2 Tb drive, and counter intuitively, the heat generated is lower now.
