Rest, Play, Grow: Making Sense of Preschoolers (Or Anyone Who Acts Like One)

Dieses Buch ist absolut empfehlenswert für alle, die mit Kindern zu tun haben und für sie verantwortlich sind und die nach liebevolleren Wegen suchen als den gängigen, meist verhaltenspsychologisch orientierten Erziehungsmethoden, ohne dabei jedoch die Rolle des verantwortlichen Erwachsenen an die Kinder abzugeben. Von der Erzieherin / dem Erzieher in der Krippe bis hin zu Lehrern und natürlich unbedingt für Eltern, egal ob frisch gebacken oder mit bereits vielfacher langjähriger Erfahrung. Dieses Buch ermutigt dazu, wieder zu unserer Intuition zurück zu kehren, die von Natur aus in uns allen angelegt ist und oftmals konträr zu den gängigen "Ratschlägen" ist, die man in der heutigen Welt hinsichtlich des Umgangs mit Kindern / Kindererziehung von allen Seiten bekommt. Es wird ein tiefes Verständnis für die Natur des Kindes, wenn nicht sogar für die menschlichen Natur an sich geweckt. Dies hilft uns dabei, unsere Kinder (und auch die anderer) besser zu verstehen, unsere Rolle als "Leitwolf" für unsere Kleinen oder "kleinen" Großen bis über die Pubertät hinaus auf liebevolle, aber Halt gebende Art und Weise ausfüllen zu können und den Kindern das zu geben, was sie am meisten in dieser Welt brauchen - eine stabile und vertrauensvolle, innige Beziehung zu einem Erwachsenen, der sie begleitet, bis sie selbst zu einem solchen reifen, verantwortungsvollen, aber auch gesunden und glücklichen Erwachsenen geworden sind. Dieses Buch ist ein absolut wertvoller Beitrag, für unsere Kinder, für uns selbst, für unsere ganze Gesellschaft.

Rest , Play, Grow takes Dr. Gordon Neufeld's developmental approach to making sense of young children (material previously available only through the Neufeld Institute's online courses, DVD's, and live presentations) and for the first time presents it in a book form. If you've never been exposed to Dr. Neufeld's work , I'll bet you'll find Rest, Play, Grow to be revelatory and transformational. The developmental approach to raising children advocated by Dr. MacNamara and Dr. Neufeld is very different from the behavioral and learning theory approaches found in the vast majority of parenting books and practices. If you are not familiar with this approach, you will probably find Rest, Play, Grow to be filled with fresh, insightful and even revolutionary thinking. Neufeld's approach definitely revolutionized the way I parent my children, and that's after already having studied many different parenting philosophies. This book by Dr. MacNamara presents Neufeld's approach to making sense of young children as a well organized, well written, easy to digest book. And there's nothing missing here. All the major parts of Neufeld's paradigm of making sense of and parenting young children are in Rest Play Grow. I particularly like that there are lots of real life examples of the ideas and advice, which is something I find lacking in Neufeld's presentations. This book is now my favorite book on understanding and parenting children ages 2-6, taking the top spots from Tovah Klein's 'How Toddlers Thrive' and Janet Lansbury's work. I only wish Gordon Neufeld had been a co-author, simply so this excellent book would get more attention, and a perhaps bigger audience could be exposed to Neufeld's paradigm.

I would recommend to read this book for all parent and parents to be. You will have deep understanding of kids psychology and you will learn about important r of caring adult in child’s life.

English is not my mother tongue, therefore I feel unconfortable expressing my view over that excellent, detailed, rigorous book that renders parenting with attachment in mind totally appropriable to anyone. I strongly suggest people to also read Dr Gordon Neufeld and Gabor Maté's book titled Hold on to your kids - Why parents need to matter more than peers. Both books go hand in hand and provide what I consider to be the best advises to parents who want to play a mindfull active role while raising and educating their children from their birth.
