Raised Bed Revolution: Build It, Fill It, Plant It ... Garden Anywhere!

Purchased this book for my 80 yr. old dad to give him some ideas of how to construct and use raised beds. He wants to still garden, but finds it harder to bend over to the ground to plant, weed and harvest, so he wants to get into raised bed gardening. This is a terrific book full of color photos of several types and styles of raised bed planters with valuable instructions on how to construct and use the planters. There's also much valuable information in the book about what soils to use and how to best achieve desired results. Highly recommend this book. He has not stopped reading it and has already started planning and building raised bed planters in preparation for the upcoming spring season.

This hardcover book "Raised Bed Revolution: Build It, Fill It, Plant It" provides what the title suggests.I wanted to make some raised garden beds so that I would not have to bend over or kneel on my knees to work on it.This book shows how to make "kitchen countertop" height beds allowing me to stand up and tend the garden bed.

Some of the reviews I read said this book was all pictures and no info..bought it anyway and glad I did. Tons of info on different garden techniques and really good directions on building projects 'with great photo's'. Guess you have to have some experience with building to get the drift. May want to further review more info on garden technique if you need but it has info on hugelkultur and that impressed me.. Knew much...Learned more...

Read and made notes, then loaned it to a gardening buddy. We both swear by raised beds. My buddy constructed several with 2 in x 10 in x 1 board high. She has far better soil on her land. I used the 2 in x 10 in boards to build 2 beds that are 4 ft x 8 ft x 30 in high. Absolutely perfect for me as a senior citizen --- I don't have to get down on my knees. My plan is to build 2 more beds this summer.

Clear step by step instructions + gd illustrations.

This is an inspirational book for detailed construction techniques, but i bought it to advise me about close planting different plant species. This is mentioned only on passing; one of which basically said "google it".
