Very disappointed!
I was really excited to receive from my Baby Registry the Ubbi Stainless Steel Odor Locking Diaper Pail in Mint. I had used the Diaper Genie for my last 2 babies. After watching videos and reading reviews on Baby List about the Ubbi, I was really excited to find a Diaper Pail for my 3rd baby that would do away with odors because of its stainless steel design, not plastic, which supposedly absorbs odors. However, I am so disappointed with this item. Every time I slide the lid to drop a Diaper in, the whole room stinks horribly. I had bought the large disposable bags that go with it and they seem to make the smell worse. Which makes sense because the bags are plastic and they are absorbing the odor. I even tried Febreeze scented trash bags (which I can’t stand because of the chemical fragrance) hoping they would help with the smell. They didn’t help either. I don’t know how this Ubbi Diaper Pail gets such great reviews and is recommended by Baby List. For the price, it is not worth it. I do like that it locks, the color options are great, but other than that, it is not worth the money for this Stainless Steel Diaper Pail or the smelly experience every time I change a diaper. It actually seems like the smell is magnified with the Ubbi vs. the Diaper Genie. I like the hands free aspect of the Diaper Genie and that they have odor control sachets to mount inside. The Diaper Genie also has a better design in locking out odors once you put a diaper in. The Ubbi needs to have a second layer of odor blocking protection when you slide the lid to drop a diaper in. This way you don’t stink up the room each time you open the lid because all the odor contained in the diaper pail is exposed and the gases created in the non-ventilated stainless steel diaper pail & plastic liner bag escape into the room.

Long lasting economical buy
PROs:Totally superficial, but I love the range of colors available, easy to match to any nursery theme. This appears to be well made and very sturdy material. It’s wonderful that you can just use regular kitchen bags to save money. There is a lock to prevent little hands from going exploring where they shouldn’t!I’ve found that as long as the lid stays closed tight, it does a pretty good job of keeping out smells. As with any system, once it’s opened you get some residual smells that linger for a while. I have found that taking out the bag and leaving it empty with the lid open overnight every few days keeps it from retaining odors.CONS:I find the lid a bit hard to open one handed, especially if you are using the lock function. You must push down and slid the lid open even when it’s unlocked and it can catch and be tricky to operate while holding a baby and poopy diaper simultaneously. The price is a bit steep for essentially just a metal trash can, though it does seem to be competitive with other brands.

These ROCK!!!!!!
We have three of these diaper pails in our house, for good reason. We have two kids under two and we go through a LOT of diapers. I love how you can use ANY kind of trash bag you want with these (hec, you could even use grocery bags if you wanted to) but it just makes it an easy choice for a diaper pail to have around. When my kids out grow diapers, I will probably still keep one around to use for the kitty's litter box clean up bags, which I already drop in the diaper pail anyway with my kid's diapers! HAHA!HIGHLY recommend!!!!

So disappointed.
I am so disappointed in this. I wanted to love it. I am trying to avoid as much plastic as I can help and this steel pail was perfect. I can even use compostable bags unlike with competitors. However, after 7 months of use, there is rust on the corners of the sliding lid! Which looks disgusting and is just disappointing quality. Then there is the wave of smell you get because of the way it opens. Even dumping baking soda and essential oils in the bag doesn’t really help those moments after you have to open.I understand there is going to be a certain amount of smell. But I am highly disappointed that this is so expensive and it’s already rusted. Not even a year in! I’m ready to get a plastic one.

Buy it. Trust me. Just buy it.
I LOVE this diaper pail. I’ll be blunt; I don’t change it regularly. Probably every week - 10 days. Why do I wait so long? Because I forget it’s full. It’s THAT good at locking in odors. My baby is 10 months old and starting to expel some very adult smells. His room is absolutely odor free. When I open the lid to throw a diaper in, a few days after I’ve changed it, holy smokes it smells like something has died in there. It wafts out and smacks me in the face sometimes. BUT. As soon as the lever lid is closed again, the smell dissipates. That’s how I know this little gem works. It completely contains the stench of fermented baby poo. It’s worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and spring for the “ expensive” diaper pail. Skimp on something else. Don’t skimp on this. Side note; it’s super easy to change the bags and you can use regular kitchen trash bags for it.

No special bags! Less hassle!
Just received this and put a regular trash bag in and have it ready to go for when our son makes his arrival. Couldn't rate smell because we haven't tested it yet. BUT... I've worked in the animal care field 10+ years and not comparing children to animals. But essentially poop is poop right? Anything plastic obsorbs the smell of poop or odor exspecially BPA free.. metal is the only way to go to avoid having a odor adapt to its environment! So I have no doubts, that this will take care of that issue. The other main reason I got this is for the simple fact of any trash bag for a tall can, can be used. Because I'm not spending my time buying special bags when I can just use what I have! It's light weight, locks.. seems simple and easy to use.

Beautiful green bin!
Really lovely looking product. I wanted to get a nappy bin that didn’t require additional refill cartridges and this one came in a range of different colours. Slightly more pricey but I figure I will be using it for a while once my baby arrives - I can’t currently comment on how well it locks in smells but will keep fingers crossed! Really simple and easy to use, lockable lid and I bought the beautiful mint green version which is a bit nicer than white or grey. I am also really impressed with Amazon; the original one I received was sent through with a large dent in the side which was originally a huge disappointment but I have received my replacement through the next day and it’s perfect!

Fantastic product
We are using cloth nappies so also purchased the ubbi pail liners the bin itself the size is deceiving it holds a lot more than you would think it would, keeps smells in. The shape means it can be placed in a small space it’s easy to use compacted and overall a fantastic pail for either disposable or reusable nappies it would make a fab office bin or bathroom bin

Highly recommend
Large bin to dispose of used nappies. No special bag required which is exactly what I was looking for.Smell is perfectly confined to the bin when it is closed.Do expect the bad smell whe opening it but it does not last.

woukd recomnend for medical or nappies odour is kept in the bin.
Bought this bin for used stoma bags as I live in a flat with no outside bin. Excellent to keep odour in the bin. Looks ok and fits in a corner out of the way.
