Q: Just purchased but the paste is really hard. Is that normal or is it dry and old?

its a paste not a liquid so it will be hard. it is the best wax out there but can be hard to use. i was my 56' sea ray every 3 months for the SW Florida environment

Q: How many cans to wax a 31 foot boat?

Depending on oxidation 2-3 I waxed 25 foot that was pretty oxidated and I used 2 cans. This is really good wax.

Q: How many cans would it take to wax a 31 ft boat?

i use 2 cans to wax my 3300 Maxum SCR and i apply 2 coats . Best wax that I have used and the more you apply over the years the better the boat looks ! Don't forget to use the cleaner wax first and then your paste wax.
