My Bowie Story: Memories of David Bowie

Purchased for my father he said he really enjoyed it!

I have always been fascinated by what David Bowie has inspired in his fans and wanted a book by fans. This unique treasure must be by the most fans in one book! I am happy to say, I must know about half of the 60 writers in the book, some of which, for now 20 years and I was still surprised at their stories (and all the surprises Bowie had in store for them!). David Bowie certainly changed our lives and will always be a very large part of us. I am most proud to have written a few stories for this wonderful compilation. Here is to keeping the giving, inspirational spirit of David Bowie going forever. ∞ Ramoana

So, firstly I must admit that I was lucky enough to have a story accepted and published in this book. I still haven't read through it entirely but I have thoroughly enjoyed every single story I've read so far. I have many books on David Bowie, all treasured but I have to say I think this one will be one of my favourites. Its unlike any I own in as much as it's the real fans who are sharing their experiences and I can relate to every word I've read. The profits made on the sales of the book are being donated to a very good cause so I can honestly say this book is a must if you are interested in all things Bowie.

David Bowie Fans schildern, was sie am meisten mit Bowie verbindet, wie sie ihm zum ersten Mal begegnet sind oder wie er ihr Leben berührt hat. Dabei kam es nicht immer zu echten Begegnungen. Immer sind die Stories sehr anrührend. Die Erzählungen sind kurz, sie lassen sich gut zwischendurch lesen. Es ist ein wenig wie ein Treffen in einem Fanclub, wo sich alle austauschen. Mir hat gerade dieser persönliche Aspekt sehr gefallen. Selbst wenn David nicht immer eine persönliche Rolle in den Bowie-Momenten spielt (manchmal geht es nur darum, wie jemand dessen Musik entdeckte), ist es interessant zu lesen, wie er die Menschen und ihr Leben beeinflusst hat. Das Buch ist bebildert, in schwarz-weiß. Teilweise ist die Qualität nur mittelmäßig, aber es ind eben Fotos, die von Fans gemacht wurden, nicht von professionellen Fotografen. Sie zeigen teilweise David, der Autogramme gibt oder auf der Bühne steht, manchmal sind auch nur die Fans oder Memorabilia zu sehen.
