it works god bless
for starters make sure the graphics card you have is compatible with this. There’s a list on the official sonnet website.Anyway, it was easy to set up with the MSI laptop I have. Currently using a GeForce 3060 12 GB with it. And DANG IS IT NICE. prior I had been using an AMD RYZEN 550X 4GB.Oddly enough, the amd 4gb didn’t care whenever I turned the egpu off but the nvidia 12gb gets pissy and demands I type the bitlocker code. No idea what that’s about but I don’t care. It works and it works well.

Impressed
Very impressed. I bought this so my wife's non-gaming laptop would work for playing a few games together. I was not super hopeful that it would work but was pleasantly surprised that it worked without any issues and was very easy to set up and use. You'll just have to have a graphics card to put in it and you are pretty much good to go. Definitely a cheaper alternative than buying a whole new gaming laptop or desktop

Be VERY cautious about ordering an eGPU.
I'm going to assume ours was a somewhat special case, but I still want to warn others so no one else has to deal with the nightmare that we have.We wanted to use this for a Dell G7 17 laptop that has Thunderbolt 3. Let me tell you right now, never buy a Dell laptop. It's known to throttle things like crazy and this eGPU was no exception. We have deducted that it was a combination of the laptop ITSELF and the eGPU as to why this did not work for us.Let's start with why it was the eGPU. We put a 4070 ti into the eGPU and plugged it into our laptop. It was a b and a half to get this to even work. Then once it did eventually work, the graphics card was only working at like 50% of its potential. Yes, it ran better than the 2070 that's in the laptop, but it definitely wasn't running like a 4070 ti.We put the 4070 ti into a desktop and immediately returned the eGPU and the 4070 ti. Why the 4070 ti? Because I'm done with Nividia for the time being and instead and looking into getting the 7900 xtx instead. I didn't think the lack of vram would make that massive of a difference, but it does, and I want to future proof at least a little bit. And the eGPU was a heavy disappointment with how poorly it preformed in comparison.I truly don't think it's worth spending an extra $300-500 losing 20-50% of an $800-$2,000 graphics cards potential. That just doesn't make sense to me and was something I should have looked into beforehand. But I do think it also preformed poorly because of the Dell laptop as well, which is notorious for throttling everything under the sun. We're guessing it has something to do with the laptop's PSU and not wanting to give the eGPU even a watt of its power. Do not disable your laptop's GPU to counter this (or to even get the eGPU to work in the first place) because you'd basically be disabling the only fans in the laptop. There really is nothing you can do about this.People seem to love eGPU's and that's why I'm assuming this either isn't normal or people don't realize how much of the graphic cards potential they're losing. But just know to do your research and see if it's the right fit for you.I say this because Amazon will not be so keen on refunding you for this because of the price tag. It has been a battle trying to get our money back and we've been prime members for a decade with a good history. So imagine wanting to return this product if you're not a prime member, or haven't been for very long.If you think the risk is worth it, go for it. But I massively regret purchasing this. We've just decided to build a portable desktop lmao.

Worked for a bit
I had an extra video card after and upgrade and I decided to use it with my son's mini pc, equipped with a Thunderbolt 3 port. I purchased the Sonnet 750 Breakaway box and at first, everything seemed to be just fine. The install was simple and the gtx2070 I had installed seemed to run well, allowing my son's tiny pc to play a large library of games without problem, but then just a few months outside of the Amazon support window, it just failed. I've tried a new thunderbolt cable, attempted to attach it to another device and it's just dead. For a device that costs nearly as much as an entry level DIY PC with significantly less functionality, I had hoped for a better long term experience. In the end, I can only recommend skipping this device and putting the money to slowly building a gaming pc. This device appears to be a waste of $300.

Works solid now after some struggle. Not as fast as exepect w my TB3 Lenovo Y740 LT
Need increase my rendering framerate and reduce my wait time in Davinci resolve Windows 10. I received it pretty quickly from Amazon but could not get it work at all no matter what I tried. Seemed everything was right but my computer always said it wasn't compatible and never seen my RTX3060 card I had in it. Same for two other computers I tried it on. The card worked fine in a desktop so it wasn't that. I then returned it for another. BINGO! I had a working EGPU. Seems to work decent with Windows 11 and a little tweaking of the default card settings. But rendering with Davini Resolve it seems the Throughput is not there for the constant high demand on the card no matter what I tried. IT surely helps reduce render times maybe 25% I was expecting a minimum of 50% based on that my build in card is a RTX2070 MaxQ. Theoretically at %200 but I expect a little less based on research. So anyway I think its my computers limitations on TB3 as it might not be utilizing the full 40GBs of the bus. Thank you Sonnet for making this thing to help computers out. I will do more testing with other systems when I have time. I have a thunderbolt 4 one someone I know has and will test it on there.

Works good, power supply is junk...
Glad I didn't pay current price (Was $299 when I got it). Purchased Feb of 2024 started flaking about Sept. Random shutdowns and disconnects.Replaced power supply with reputable unit (4/1/25), working like a champ now. Really paying for the internal abilities which are great, but PSU should be a little better grade for protection, especially at current price point.

Loving it!
I love this EGPU enclosure! I had an Nvidia 970 video card collecting dust. I use it for this enclosure and it has brought new life to it. I have it connected to my GPD Win Max while at home. The enclosure is great for road trips for use in hotels and such when you need more graphic power. It works great! All I had to do was unscrew the enclosure cover and install the video card. Highly recommend, but remember you lose about 25% to 30% graphic performance through thunderbolt versus a full desktop PC.

The sound
I like this egpu as the sound is very minimal.
