One of the few novels on magic written from an insiders point of view
Completed a year after her death via medium s transmission Dion Fortunes novel Moon Magic offers reveals glimpses of the inner workings of the Golden Dawn, Masonry, etc. Written a decade or so prior to Gerald Gardner’s exposition of Wicca it offers glimpses into that traditions Third degree secrets of Drawing Down the Moon or Aspecting a Theurgic working of divine possession .blending fact fiction to create a tale of two initiated members of an ancient Goddess worshiping Egyptian cult reunited in a present incarnation . Written in the 1930s it offers glimpses into the lives and attitudes of England at that time, I read it to a friend who is a historian and Wiccan High Priestess and we both enjoy spent hours discussing. its combination of fact and fiction

Beautiful parallels to my magickal being.
Lest we not forget we hold both sides of self within. Both masculine and feminine, yin and yang. Regardless of sexual orientation or partner, this work is possible individually. Let’s birth the new aeon. It has begun....this is the dawning of the....I must thank my partner on another plane who is helping....without him and his preparations I never would have been able.

Good Read
The book brings esoteric knowledge to the reader in a novel. While generally well written and often engaging, the book does have a tendency to bog down at times, and the overt storyline is not well developed. There is much to gain through careful reading and meditation on the themes, approaches and undertones of the book, however. If you are in to this genre, it is a good read.

Surprisingly well written
This book is a sort of sequel to see priestess, but it was never finished by the author, and the final third was channeled by a different author. There's a lot of male versus female energy, and the different dynamics that come out of a very repressed society. I would definitely recommend reading it if you want to get lost in the mysteries.

CLASSIC
Classic esoteric piece. In novel form, but with all the "hidden truths" and esoteric secrets that have been passed down over the centuries. Each read brings a deeper understanding.

Fortune is an acquired taste.
One of my favourite books.Dion Fortune is something of an acquired taste, though, so be aware that the writing style is that of the early part of the twentieth century, poised between Victorian flowery prose and the more clipped prose of later modern writers. There are hints of many of the esoteric areas for which Fortune was really best known; she wrote the novels at a time when disseminating such things was something that could get you jailed, so she chose fiction as a means of sharing her expertise.

highly esoteric
This purports to be a novel, & although that is true, it reads almost as a series of teachings. Not for someone who wants a light read. But, you may find it fascinating in a different way.
