Vector Calculus

Very student friendly book.
This book is very easy to understand, especially for the necessary background of field problems and even the optimization subject. For all engineers who are trying to model actual problems, this book is a very good support.

Received used book in great condition!
Used book for a great price, received in great condition, inside pages very clean, binding and spine are great, cover is fine, all to say this far exceeded expectations! Far far better experience than with most other used books from Amazon! Also, great book content, great layout.

Great Book
I only didn't give it 5 stars because it assumes a lot of foreknowledge and it's been 2 years since I touched Calculus. Also, even the basic Intro to Vectors I found quite confusing and hard to follow. I feel they could have done better at explaining things.

Bridges the Gap
I purchased this text to help me review vector calculus. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find that there was more to the text than I had expected. In particular, chapters 2 and 3 were very helpful in bridging a gap in my knowledge regarding differentials and multivariable Taylor Series - concepts that I had encountered before in advanced technical literature without fully understanding due to the lack of introductory exposition and examples. Vector Calculus has plenty of examples as well as practice problems with answers, all of which have been helpful in my study of the subject.I would recommend this text to anyone looking to learn about multitarget tracking systems, machine learning, or multivariable optimization since the topics in the chapters I mention above are necessary prerequisites for those areas of study.

Terrible, terrible book.
I am a math major and a junior in college: this is easily the worst mathematics textbook I've ever come across in my academic career. Unfortunately, my college professors usually teach to the examples laid out in the textbook and as a result this course is a nightmare. Assigned homework is a problem because the answers to the questions do not match up to the answers in the back of the book - I've spent hours frustrated with a problem only to take it to my professor and learn that I had the right answer all along and the back of the book was steering me wrong. Examples within the sections are limited and self-teaching is impossible.

This textbook is great!
I must have loaned my library copy of this book to a person who liked the book so much that it was never returned. This book was ordered brand new as areplacement for the library that I borrowed it from. The librarian was pleased with receiving a new book as a replacement. The text itself is excellent and worth the money to learn this mathematics.

Great if you Like being a Calculator, Terrible if you like Mathematics
This has got to be the most insipid exposition of multivariable calculus I've ever had the misfortune of having to read. This book covers the standard calculus III curriculum decently well and that is the only reason it's not getting one star from me.There is no imagination or interest in anything touched upon in this book, reminding me far more of a precalculus course one would take in high school than a calculus textbook. Moreover, there is not an interesting example or problem in the book, whether you're into pure or applied math.If you're stuck using this for a class, then I'm sorry you have to endure that, if you're looking to use this to self study, DON'T! An alternative book that is so good that is makes the use of Marsden and Tromba's even more shameful is Hubbard and Hubbard's "Vector Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Forms". Not only is the material more advanced and the layout more pedagogically sound, developing linear algebra as a natural way to express the linearization of nonlinear functions, but the text is bursting with passion and has some of the most interesting examples and problems I've ever encountered in a text. In addition to many easier nontrivial problems, there include a number of problems (Problem 1.38 for example) such that you could explain them to a 5 year old and yet even a professor may struggle to solve them!TLDR; Marsden and Tromba is a great book to kill mathematical creativity, Hubbard and Hubbard presents a stunningly well written alternative.

Very Student friendly.
Packaging is very good.Condition of book is satisfactory. But I have received it after the schedule time.So 4 star. If one has a great ambition on Physics should start to read from 11th level .
