Is this too elementary for a smart 13 year old? I don't want to insult my niece's intelligence, just want something fun for her.

No, I don't think it's too easy. The game comes with challenges (pictures showing 100 different starting board layouts), from easy to extremely difficult. IQ Fit, IQ Link, and Bend It are games in the same universe and may be a little more challenging -- definitely none of the smart adults with multiple college degrees we know has made it through all the challenges for any of these. . . (I mean, they aren't spending hours each day trying, either, but none of these games is a slam dunk once you get out of the "beginner" level.)

Is this a good toy for an 8 year old

Yes, definitely. My 10 year old boy loves it. There are different levels of difficulty that they can choose, and an answer key.

How is this one different from IQ fit? They look quite similar, so I am not sure if worth getting these two games or just one of either will do....

the twist game comes with movable pegs which allows the game parts to be placed over them-as long as there is a whole-some parts of the twists are solid and some are open. When the pegs are placed some colors have 2 twist pieces of the same color so either twist piece could be placed there. I think the 2 game are quite smiliar-I have another that is similiar to the fit, it even has 3D puzzle set-ups using the solid pieces and using only the center square area-I did like the new twist of the extra pegs to add a little more, not sure if they're a hint in solution or henderance in solution, either way I've had fun working my way through their booklet.

I'd say from about age 8yrs. and to 80. Great game from that age and up. Great travel game also. For younger group there's RushHour.

Por menos de 10 euros tenemos un juego educativo y entretenido. Es perfecto para llevar de viaje porque trae un estuche de plástico rígido en el que caben las fichas y el librito de indicaciones, que se guarda en cualquier bolso. Sus medidas son poco más que un móvil, más grueso. La dificultad del juego va aumentando progresivamente así los peques se van haciendo a él y se acostumbran a ir pensando en la solución. En los niveles de experto necesitan ayuda así que es perfecto para jugar en familia.

I love this line of IQ smart games that are challenging but perfect to work on while watching TV. The small case is perfect size with a booklet of beginning to expert challenges, with "answers" in the back, which I don't look to, as I work to complete each pattern on my own.
