Too long and nothing new
I bought this having had the original first time round thinking there may be new information and something to help with motivation.The book is incredibly repetitive, takes a very long time to get to the point, and incredibly self-congratulatory.Not as well written as the original and quite dull. Nothing in the book isn't freely available online.

Very helpful
This is a lot easier to read than The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living, although much less informative in a technical sense, New Atkins is the sister book to explain how to implement the diet. It's an easy read that still teaches you a lot.

Heavy going
This is supposed to be easier to understand, but I've found it immeasurably boring to try to get into. A simple 'eat this' and 'definitely don't eat that', would be better for the everyday reader, rather than highbrow essentials, which, let's face it, most people tend to gloss over. If you like a good technical read, this could beat 'War and Peace'

A plan that works
Really good value to follow an eating plan that works. It requires effort but the rewards are worth the chore of ploughing through the book. There's lots of clear explanations of the science behind the plan which is interesting and real life success stories to keep you motivated. And it's one hell of a lot cheaper than joining a slimming group. The menu plans and food lists will be very familiar to american readers but there are more than enough "British" foodstuffs listed to follow the plan easily from day 1. By far and away the best thing for me is that I have genuinely not felt the slightest bit hungry and am eating so many foods that I thought previously to be banned from the dieters fridge!

Well explained and logical
This book explains the reasoning behind the New Atkins diet, without you needing a relevant degree to understand it. If you are someone who likes to know the thinking behind how things work, this is the book for you. I've read it and re-read sections a number of times as it's packed full of information. Having tried other diets and failed, I put the Atkins theory into practice I can attest that for me, it works! The book includes suggested meal plans. I would strongly suggest reading this book before starting on the diet, to make it work better for you.
