Still Life: The Books of Elsewhere: Volume 5

Kids Relate to the Characters
The Books of Elsewhere have characters and plot lines that don't play down to children. I think that's why my grands like them.. Even kids who don't normally express themselves that much about books, find plenty to talk about. As usual, this one was finished the day after received. My grandson (10), who is very picky about what he reads, disappeared into his room and read half by bedtime. Something about the dark and the conquest of good, in this case the conquest by children, over darkness/evil appeals to him. He was a little disappointed that this was the last one of the series, but he thought it ended "extremely excellently". I read several of these books myself and found them well written and very imaginative. I only hope the author starts a new series soon, with another diverse string of equally quirky and endearing characters.

Great read for ages 8 to 108 !!!!
This series of books take you to places you would never expect to go ! Very imagentive ! One day I purchased the first in series (I did not know it was a series at the time ) for my granddaughter. When I brought it home and I read the book because I was curious after reading what the book was about and if it was age appropriate for my 9 year old granddaughter. It was just what she was into. She loved it! We could not wait for the next one to hit the market !!!She has all in the series now and is sad it has ended...

Great conclusion to the series
I started reading this series to my third grade class and we were both engrossed from the start. I really enjoyed Olive's journey and the development her character went through. I am sorry the series came to an end but it was a spectacular ending.West keeps these books kid friendly enough for elementary readers but not so much so it harms the story. If I have any gripe it would be that parts felt a bit rushed. She does a great job of describing the world in which her books take place but the pacing felt forced during the last third. However, this wasn't enough to prevent a 5 star rating. Looking forward to what she has up her sleeve next!

Wonderful for young and older readers
So sad to have the series end, but oh what a series - this is the final book in "The Books of Elsewhere" series that my 9 year old daughter LOVES. I have been reading it now too and I must say that it captures the young (and older) readers' interest and imagination and keeps them coming back for more! What a wonderfully written series!

Perfect Series for Summer, or Any Time
My 12 year old niece absolutely loved this series and could not wait for the last book to arrive. Once she had it in her hands she read it straight through! She said it had everything a book should, excitement, cliff hangers, characters she cared about and it was just spooky enough for a chill or two. Her take was two thumbs up and 'totally readable'.

PERFECT ENDING
I'm truly in love with this series. Much better written than Coraline, and thrills on every page. This book wraps up the series beautifully, and I am beyond disappointed that I will have no more adventures with young Olive and her friends. Just buy it for your kids, they and you will love it.

Great series!!!
This series was great; I didn't want it to end, but all things have to come to an end, if you know what I mean. This book was great for me. It was full of mysteries and for me, a little bit of suspense. When I was reading some parts of the book, I was like, ' oh my gosh, this is really going on??? I can't believe it!!!' I would DEFINITELY recommend this series!!!
