I did this to all three (white, gray and black) pencils that I received today. It sharpened just like the video said it would. The first photo of the white pencil. Then I used the righthand hole and turned it 20 revolutions. The second photo is of the 3 pencils sharpened. I read the review about not being able to re-sharpen the pencil after the first sharpening... what you have to do is put it into the lefthand hole once again to get the grid on it, then put it into the right hand hole to get the smooth point. Not only does it work evey time, I even tried it on my Faber Castell "GoldFaber" pencils and got the same great point (photo #3). The sharpener lid opened by itself slightly when it was full.
