I am currently installing the drain however should the rubber sleeve threaded coupling be glued to the metal drain outlet, it seems to just slip off?

No, don’t glue the sleeve in place. The mortar bed and tile will hold the drain and insert in place

8 months all good. The only part that can fail is the plastic stablizers. They give you extras. See if you can order them.
