Carter Fuel SystemsIn-Tank Universal Electric Fuel Pump Automotive Replacement 12V (P74213)

I bought this lift pump because my 2001 Cummins hadn't been outfitted with the in tank style and i thought mine was weak. Boy was i wrong becuae a brand new one had the same pressures. Didn't hear about the Fass TS-D08 till a couple weeks later, which I ended up purchasing. Anyway I immediately hooked a fuel pressure gauge to it. It reads about 12-13psi at idle. In drive you might gain about 1psi. However as soon as you press maybe half throttle it goes down to almost 4psi. This is on stock injectors and tune. Which is not good. At highways speeds it does 8-10 psi. Not good again. Now, unless you getting atleast 14psi of fuel pressure your VP44 injection pump isn't returning any fuel back to the tank via the bypass. Which means it's not staying cool by circulating clean cool fuel and just getting hotter and hotter the longer you drive. These Carter style lift pumps are what take out the VP44 injection pumps. Which costs upwards of 1500 hundred dollars a pop. Save your money and get the Fass Fuel System like I did and have peace of mind.

Other than my truck seeing its fair share of road salt and being a tad crispy, Installation was almost painless. Other than having to cut one of the old and ceased bolts off the old one it worked flawlessly. Just make sure you know which pump you need whether it be the In-tank or the one mounted on the driver side of the block. Doing research everything was saying on my 2001 Dodge 2500 5.9l Cummins it was a In-tank setup but it was actually on the block. If ya don't know just chirp the starter and see if you can hear it and where it is if it ain't dead. Other than that, it has been working flawless for a stock replacement.

the bottom plastic plug-in was broke but had no choice had to tape it and install I was in need of my truck, and shipping was a day longer as ups drives right by and delivered through post office

It dose the job, although noisy, it comes in a box that Labeled made in China.This is a Carter brand lift pump, highly suggest adding a pressure gauge, or pressure lamp to confirm it’s faithfulness. I have had a Defected pump in the past with the incorrect pressure.

Bought this for my 2002 dodge ram cummins and it ruined my injection pump. Turns out these things only push about 2 to 4 psi and the injection pump needs atleast 14 psi so it don't burn up. And they won't cover a new injection pump so thanks Carter for the piece of junk and now a $2000 bill to fix my truck. I won't ever buy another Carter part again.

I purchased the pump, arrived in a box that looked like it had been returned once before, paid $350.00 to have it installed and it did not work. Had to order one again and had to pay the install price again, this one worked fine. Thank God!!

Only put around 1500kms on truck and had to replace. Don’t buy it’s junk. Now I’m trying to get warranty

The media could not be loaded.  This pump is the biggest waist of money! Save your money and stay away from this garbage! If you want a pump that leaks straight out of the box then here is the pump for you! Greatly disappointed in Carter. Buy yourself a fass or airdog, anything but this garbage! After installing this garbage you get a nice surprise of it leaking from the electrical connector. No fuel leaking from the fuel lines.

This is a drop-in replacement for the original on my Cummins 5.9 24 valve diesel. Delivers good pressure, solved my starting problems. Cummins calls this (vane type) as the "improved version" over the older solenoid pumps. My old failed one was 2001 vintage.
