BEWARE OF this sellers use of the word "DUAL" smoke alarm!
Either I am careless, or the headline posting is deceptive! WARNING: This is NOT a dual Ionization/Photoelectric smoke detector!!! It is a " DUAL IONIZATION" (seller's description in the title, not mine) smoke detector when you read the fine print , whatever that means. No PHOTOELECTRIC detection on this smoke detector as indicated on the packaging when I received it. How did I find this item on Amazon? I searched "dual smoke alarm" to find this item hoping to find a dual Ionization/photoelectric smoke alarm. This offering popped up as very good value, but only upon installation did I discover that it DOES NOT INCLUDE PHOTOELECTIC / IONIZATION (DUAL) as I had anticipated . (Dual Ionization/photoelectric is more desirable that either of these smoke detection methods singularly) . I have installed already installed it, but I am disappointed. Avoid if you are looking for a higher quality DUAL IONIZATION/PHOTOELECTRIC smoke detector.

Not a First Alert alarm
I specifically wanted the First Alert brand and when I opened the package this is what I got. It doesn't look anything like the product description. I am annoyed that now I have to waste my time going through the return process.

BRK is owned by First Alert. But it sucks anyway
A number of other reviewers are upset because they thought they were ordering a First Alert detector, but the box says BRK. If you read the product description it tells you the manufacturer is BRK, so it must be a subsidiary of First Alert. Also, if you go to the Amazon First Alert page, you'll see BRK models as one of the choices.Even so, this smoke detector isn't made well. It's ridiculously hard to open and close to change the battery. Also, since it doesn't have a separate plate that screws into the wall, it took at least 3 times longer to install. I would NOT order this product again.

Not as described
I bought this for an rv because it specifically says in the description suitable for rvs. No where on the alarm or in the instructions does it say for an rv. Also the fact it says dual is very misleading.

Dual ionization Is not listed on product, box or directions
Ok so I called first alert because this FG250B does not say dual ionization sensor on the box or the directions in the box. I attached an image that shows it is if you trust that. Here’s that text“ DUAl IoNIZATIoNDual Ionization sensing chamber. Generally more effective at detecting small particles produced by flaming fires. Sources may include paper or kitchen grease.”
