Comes with a hard case but I also bought the soft carry case and the calibrator device. Without the calibrator you have no evidence to convince authorities that the readings are reliable and they will not accept them. Furthermore, they cannot measure instantaneous peaks, only continuous sounds. Gunshots range from 140db-190dB and are instantaneous. I can recommend looking at the LXT1-QPR from Larson Davis as it is specific for gunfire testing.
