A truly abysmal product even by the wretched standards of Amazon
I bought this thinking I'd attempt to salvage my futon which is a nicely made piece of furniture. I went in with low expectations, knowing that Amazon has transformed into a minefield of Chinese garbage/knock-offs, grifters, and fugazi reviews. Unfortunately, my increasing cynicism was founded.First of all, this mattress is ugly. The cheap fabric makes it reminiscent of those from 1970s movie scenes of filthy NYC flophouse mattresses. For added effect an attached, giant mattress tag is there to remind you that it doesn't belong on furniture in your house, but rather in a $10 an hour motel. Or, under a bridge or in a abandoned warehouse. If this company were after current-day homelessness chic the only things they missed were the syringes and feces.Of feces. This thing literally stinks. It has an odor identical to a Harbor Freight cross vice, except that it stinks up your whole house and not just your garage. Make sure your HVAC is in working order when you unwrap it and don’t let anyone you care about sleep on it because they’ll likely get a year’s worth of unacceptable levels of ACGIH and OSHA regulated toxins in an hour. Maybe a Chinese "impermeable-hermetically-sealed-mattress-cover-to preserve-life-product-with-3950-five-star-reviews-very-good-you-like-it-very-much-perfect-reviews" should be a "People also bought this" purchase.Comfort? No. This thing will break a normal ass. It's like sitting on a concrete park bench at 10 times earth's gravity. If you are litigious, order this and after 1 hour of use (assuming you survive the toxic fumes) you will have a legal claim involving some combination of deep vein thrombosis and spinal injury. If you’re not too bright and don’t immediately throw this wreaking abomination in the trash, then ask your oncologist to refer you to the nearest osteopath. My speculation is that this mattress is made of cheap, improperly manufactured polyurethane foam (the awful, and likely toxic, stink) and, if it even has them, springs with a Hook's constant not discernible from that of cheap ballpoint pens. This is the ultimate Amazon product. It's a $200, 100-lb piece of stinking, floppy toxic waste that's extremely difficult for a person to repackage and return.

Believe the reviews.. or don't lol. Product has false advertising!
So yes, it's true.. this mattress is NOT the advertised 8 inches! Barely makes 5.5-6inches in thickness.. AND it does have an odd smell that after two weeks is still apparent but not unbearable.. BUT it is SUPER COMFORTABLE and my kids love it so I really can't ask for more in a futon mattress. All that to say, yes, the reviews are mostly true.. but don't be completely turned off by the extremely negative ones bc the mattress was not as bad as some of the reviews make it seem. Also, my biggest worry was that the mattress wouldn't be thick enough which meant feeling the metal futon frame rods when laying on it.. but it was not so. I don't feel the rods and it sleeps very comfortably. I gave it 4 stars bc tho there was false advertising, I was satisfied with the quality enough to be mostly happy with the purchase.

Don't buy for a futon - but excellent Seller
Do not buy this for a futon that folds -- with this on a futon, it is impossible to fold the futon back to sitting position. When you do remove this mattress, fold the frame, then put the mattress back on the frame again -- the mattress will look refuse to fold and look completely comical as its bubbling in and thickness eats into your sitting space. You will also struggle to get it off the frame because it is thick and heavy. However, if you will use it flat --- It is comfortable when lying flat and you can't feel the bars, but again Futons should spend a good amount of their time upright, and at the cost of extreme thickness and weight this is not good for a futon -- you could instead use it on a flat platform bed or even the floor.Update - Changed from 1 star to 3 stars: The seller is excellent, very responsive, and found a great solution for the return. Will update when return is completed.

who loved sleeping on it
Got this mattress to put on our newly acquired Eastridge Futon Frame - Queen Size, Solid Hardwood , which we are using in our study. We recently used this for our overflow guests, who loved sleeping on it. Pros: The mattress itself is very comfortable to sleep on, guests used for several nights and said it was very comfortable. Cons: It is a bit unwieldy to put it in sitting position. Have to pull it off the futon, raise the futon and put it back on and mold it into shape. Takes two people to do this. So it not convenient for frequent changes. Also, the cover it came with did not look like proper upholstery, rather a rough inner cover that is stitched-in. So I had to get a separate cover that can be taken off and washed occasionally.

Best company response ever, extremely comfortable futon
I do not usually write a review, but this purchase deserves one. Needed a futon mattress for my sons sitting room area. He recently moved home during covid. I read all the different brands and products on the online reviews and was overwhelmed with possible negatives when one buys "any" futon mattress; from bedbugs, mold, smells, poor fit, not filled as stated and etc. I finally bought from Futon Factory since my other son checked the futon he bought several years ago and is pleased. I had several questions and every time emailed them they responded very quickly and attended to my needs 100%. Roberta was excellent to speak with and took excellent care of us. It is a thick and comfortable mattress and the shipping smells have mostly faded away. It is as advertised which is nice. It fits on the frame and does not slide off. They even sent me a few extras to keep us feeling good. Thank you for all you patience and help. Perfect futon mattress for us.
