Won't light with supplied battery charger cord, but will w/ any other generic ~15 volt DC power supply cord (even w/o batteries)
My perspective is as a longtime non-pro photog, now diving into video creation. I have several tungsten studio type hot lights (fresnel & soft box). A problem is the high power draw of multiple high-watt tungsten lamps. The solution could be LED lights, but they are more expensive. Also LED fixtures generally seem more flood oriented and less controllable, but there are exceptions. LED lights are much lower power draw for the same brightness, and less heat. That makes them better for use in a home with normal household wiring. This light is small enough to be an on camera light, though big enough to require some care and caution when using it that way. I'll be using it with a stabilizing handle also attached to the camcorder. The instructions that come with the light are sketchy. When I unboxed it upon arrival, I tried to turn it on. No dice. It would not light with the (uncharged) batteries - no big surprise there. But it also would not light with the supplied AC/DC power converter for the supplied battery charger. Quite frustrating! Then I watched videos about the unit where a person would operate the light without batteries with only a DC converter power cord. But I could not make it work that way! I was thinking it was a defective unit. Such a hassle to return! I thought, "well, charge the batteries overnight and see what happens."The next day, the batteries were charged. I drop them into the unit, and it lights up! Success! Then, I plug in the supplied DC power cord and it turns itself off immediately. Arrgghh!Ok. More web research. Super difficult to find (hence this review) but I learn that this light will not operate with the supplied DC power cable which is intended only for the battery charger module alone. But it will operate with pretty much any other 13V-17V DC power supply, with the standard connector for those. So I found one of several of those around the house, plugged it into the light and, viola! It works! Too much drama and self-learning. Ikan should update its documentation, both supplied with the unit and online.Normally I would not leave a review the day after receiving (before some significant use), but the above is the reason. So far though, it is one impressive little light. I looks like it will be useful as a low power studio light, but essential as a portable "on camera" light. Lots of great accessories are included, to allow use on camera or on a standard 5/8" baby post on a light stand. It all looks and feels like quality. The only weak point is the documentation, easily improved by Ikan.

Light is Awesome - Charging base not the case.........
I absolutely agree with mirror image's review back in 2018. Great product over all. I only gave 4 stars because one of the charger base's stopped working today. It was past the 30 day Amazon warranty period but amazon still credited me the cost of a new base!!!!!! Didn't have to deal with someone from............you get the point.

Very slight magenta cast but overall good light
Better than Aputure’s led offering. The ikan onboard led panel is pretty good for its class, though it has a slight magenta cast to its light quality, this is minimal in comparison to the very pronounced green tint to the aputure products I’ve purchased.
