The problem with the 1 piece version they won't work in places like under a deck or in a shed because the panel won't get any sunlight. Problem solved with this unit. I wanted one out in my wood shed and under my deck so don't have to carry a flashlight. Works like a dream! Lights up a 16X8 foot wood shed (easily enough light for twice the area). I think this would also be ideal for a lawn tractor shed. Just need to drill a small hole to fish the wire through and presto. Instant lighting.

Light does not have three lighting modes (looking at the other reviews, i may have just gotten a bad one...)It does not have a motion sensor, it is on at dark and usually after about 7 hour (3 am (dark at 7 pm)) it is barely on, although it works strong for the first 4 or 5 hours.Perfect for lighting up the yard in the evening. I thought the dimmer light in combination with the motion sensor light would be perfect to make it last all night - sadly it does not.I would say, if the light worked as advertised, it would be a great light. Good luck on your purchase.

Some of the instructions on separating the solar cell from the base could have been written more clearly but overall, this product is great. Works as advertised with virtually no adjustment necessary. I would highly recommend it.UPDATE----Worked for a couple of days and hasn't come on since. Should have sent it back but didn't get that done in time. Will check the battery next--I suspect it is dead.

This worked fine--until it rained. I had it set up like it shows in the picture, but it quit working almost immediately once it started raining, and when I took it down, I actually shook water out of the led unit. I've dried out the inside of the led unit, but it still won't work at all.UPDATE: The company contacted me, and sent me a replacement solar light--kudos for the customer service! So far, this one has been working fine (but it hasn't rained yet). I really like the brightness, and how compact it is. I guess I'll just bring it inside if it's going to rain.

Love the light itself and the fact that I can mount the light where I need it and the solar panel so it gets sunlight. Great idea.But the backs of both pieces kept falling off which renders the unit wide open to malfunction when it rains. I ended up using strong packing tape to secure the backs in place while also waterproofing the light. We shall see how long this tape will stay on.So far, so good. The light is performing beautifully.

Why didn't someone think of this before. In order for a "solar" light to work it needs sunlight... but that isn't necessarily where you need the light to be. This nifty little product solves that, and is reasonably priced. The light automatically comes on (at low setting) when it gets dark, and then switches to full brightness when motion activated. It gives plenty of light to get around at night and covers a large area, but not something that you could work by. Only annoyance is that moths (and things) can set it off, so if you are using it for security there might be many false alarms.

A nice bright light with a big design flaw. The light only works when it is dark outside. If you install the light inside (like a dark closet) and solar panel outside then light only comes on when it is dark outside thus rendering the detachable feature obsolete. If the light sensor was attached with light emitting panel then this would be top in its class.

First time I pushed the button to set the mode it broke. At the price I paid I half expected it to disappoint me. Maybe I just got a bad unit, but it's in the trash now.
