Why do you describe this as 3 inch and 4 inch? one answer suggests it's 4 inch not 3 inch... so isn't your description wrong? certainly unclear.

The pop up head fits into a 4" PVC SDR35 fitting or over a 3" PVC SDR35 fitting

The pipe we have is 3 3/8 inches o.d. The emitter fits over it, but not snugly. Can anyone tell me what kind of adapter to use?

Just use a screw(stainless to prevent rust). Drill a small hole threw the pipe and emitter rim and secure the emitter to the pipe. Common fix.

For anyone that has used the popup valve, do you get soil erosion around the popup valve? I'm going to be using this with a sump pump.

I've had mine for one year. It discharges an underground drainpipe leading from an upgradient catch basin that drains what used to be a waterlogged low area next to my house. I see no erosion by the popup, which is on a hillslope barely above the soil surface where a grassy lawn grows. It looks just like the rest of the lawn.

Does it come in gray or white color?

Gray or white ???? I don't know for sure. Mine are a dark forest green. I never seen anything to indicate there are any color choices. Does not seem likely but again I cannot say for sure. Try looking on internet for manufacturer web site. If green is undesirable I suppose some spray paint might be appropriate.
