I am pregnant with out second and am losing some of my milk supply so my husband and I decided to start the search for a supplemental formula. For me, organic was a no-brainer, but I was pretty much lost on the rest of it. The deciding points came down to Palm Oil, DHA, and Lactose. From all of my research and reading, palm oil has a tendency to upset stomachs (basically acts like a slight soap and makes bubbles), DHA is harvested using chemicals (that are supposed to evaporate, but who really believes that?), and lactose is the best of the carbohydrate options.Looking at those three, Baby's Only had 75% of my requirements, the lack of palm oil and DHA, although they use brown rice syrup instead of lactose which is why this is a 4 star review instead of a 5 star. Everyone else had the DHA and/or palm oil (including Holle and Hipp). So, for me, the sensitivity of the stomach with the palm oil was worse than using brown rice syrup for the carbohydrate. That, and while I want the best for my baby, we can't afford full priced Holle and Hipp (but that's another discussion).So the first test was this afternoon - we are trying to only give one formula bottle a day right now - sat down with my son and a bottle and he sucked it dry without pause. Awesome. I didn't have any problems with clumping, and apparently the flavor was fine. We are still waiting to see if the constipation becomes an issue. If it does, I will provide an update with that information, although he is also on solids too, so chances are we won't see too much of a change.Overall, I like this product. Is it perfect? No. Is it a good option out of a field of bad ones? Yes. Is it close to affordable? Yes. You also don't have to worry about receiving old batches of this formula.If you are still trying to decide which organic baby formula to use, I suggest you use your own research rather than be influenced. I started my research with this excellent article which compares various organic brands: [...] (foodbabe.com) I then researched individual ingredients for each of these formulas myself to arrive my final conclusions. As a concerned parent it is important for all of us to make the right choice.A few things to keep in mind:1. Check to see which ingredients are not organic in the formula. Every ingredient that is not organic is a suspect.2. I strongly advise against corn based formula, some new research has suggested that almost all corn in USA is GMO and it is hard to produce purely organic corn. In either case I would bet on feeding my baby rice rather than corn.3. DHA/ARA have been shown to have no effect on growth. It's a marketing gimmick, stay away from them.In the end I would have preferred to have a formula that actually uses milk solids as its main ingredient but unfortunately there is no organic brand on the market for which it is true. In the meanwhile I plan to use this formula as the primary supplement.Like many other reviewers kids my kid also experienced severe constipation with this formula. We tried initially experimenting with apple juice (made infant gassy) and then settled with white grape juice. It works wonders and the kid has had no problems ever since. I can't comment on gassiness since I haven't seen it yet. I add about 1/3 ounce grape juice in a 4 ounce feed.Happy parenting! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Baby loves the taste but... *by R***K on Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2011* I was having trouble finding a formula that my 7 month old liked. I read about this formula and saw that some parents were using it for their babies. I felt comfortable, after talking with my daughter's pediatrician, starting her on this Baby's Only as a supplement to breast feeding (she was getting her teeth and starting to bite me which was not pleasant!).Now that we are almost all on formula we are running into some serious constipation issues. I do not know if it is this formula in particular or switching to solid foods at the same time that is doing it but I have been needing to give her prunes to counteract it since we started using it. The iron content isn't any higher then normal infant formulas so I'm not sure she would do any better on a different brand. Might switch to a gentle digestion formula for awhile to get her pooping happily again though.Other then the constipation she seems to really enjoy it.
