TerramarWomen's 100% Silk Thermasilk Pointelle Scoop Shirt Baselayer

Don't judge a book by its cover!
Yes it's super thin, but it's perfect for 30-50 degree F weather. If you're looking for a thicker silk undershirt, you want the TERRAMAR BASELAYER that's much more expensive (around $80) but that one is way thicker too, like more of a thermal/cotton shirt thickness. This one is like pantyhose thin but it's AMAZING if you don't want bulk, and need a layer of warmth. This looked super cute under a loose open knit "sweater", you know, the cute ones that sill show a little skin through some of the knit - or for pretty tops and blouses etc. If you're trying to bundle up like an eskimo, you want a thicker base layer. Yes, this will snag. Yes, it's super sheer. THAT'S THE MAGIC OF IT! Silk naturally is amazing at keeping you warm so the fact that it's thin is a PLUS for those looking for a solution that doesn't add bulkiness. If you pull it out of the package and immediately think it's too thin - give it a try outside in the cold, layered under your clothing because just looking at it won't be a good judgement of warmth. The fact that it's super sheer is the key selling point!

Not silk at all.
This product said it was 100% silk when I purchased it. When I got it, the label says it is cotton, model, spandex. It looks like the same product, it isn't 100% silk.

Terramar sells DEFECTIVE/FACTORY REJECT products
This is not a customer focused company. We bought 2 of the thermalsilk scoop neck top to give to our daughter late last year. She had forgotten them and recently retrieved both from her packed closet. She tried both on and discovered that both tops have different arm lengths. The right arm is 1" shorter than the left arm. We immediately contacted thermalsilk about the defective product. Thermalsilk sent authorized the return with a return label. However the letter stated that if we use the label to return the product than a charge of $10 will be charged to our account. For what reason do we have to pay for defective product exchange??? This is a company that sells reject factory products and we want everyone to know that this company sells defective reject products and charges customers to exchange its bad product. Let it go out of business. Its products must be second hand rejects and no one should buy from Terramar. All be warned!!!

Nutshell: perfectly cozy but not clingy, and a wonderfully warm base layer for 40-45 F temps
For size reference, I’m 5’3”, generally wear XS or S depending on brand, shirt style, etc. I have a small frame with ~36C chest. Bought a S in this and it fit fine. Definitely not ultra snug, rather pretty loose. At first I was really disappointed, thinking that as a base layer it was supposed to be like 2nd skin, and considered returning it but didn’t have time before leaving for a trip in a couple days. In the end, I’m happy about the fit. Perhaps an XS would’ve fit a bit more snugly, but more likely it would’ve been too tight and the sleeves too short. I had a little trouble finding a few tops in my closet to wear over this that fit in a comfortable-enough way but that’s really only bc apparently I like to wear my tops kind of tight-fitting. So if you don’t have any roomy tops that you can wear over this base layer, or if you prefer your base layer to cling a little more snugly, you might opt for a smaller size of this shirt if you’re on the cusp of the sizing. As others have pointed out many times, it is extremely thin, like hosiery. I too wondered how it could possibly do its job of keeping me warm but as another reviewer said, this product shouldn’t be judged by its cover. Plus although it may have the appearance and thinness of hosiery, fortunately it FEELS nothing like hosiery. I wouldn’t have been able to tolerate that feel. But this top is wicked soft and smooth, not at all scratchy or having that wire scouring-pad feel of hosiery. I also really liked that this was thin enough to take up very little space for packing as we were trying to travel light.I’m really glad I decided to keep it. This top turned out to be fantastic for a cold weather vacation, worn as a base layer. In the end I had some tops/sweaters that had enough room to spare in putting on over this one and I was happy as a clam wearing it almost every day during a 9-day trip in 40-45 F temps. I’ve always lived in balmy FL and have no clue how to dress properly for cold weather, but staying warm was a big deal for me to be able to enjoy the trip so I was really putting a lot of confidence in this thing and it actually came through! It’s only a base layer - and a lightweight one at that - so naturally I had a sweater on top, and a thick fleece jacket over that but honestly I think it was the base layer (not the sweater or fleece) that made the biggest difference in being able to stay warm. I’m thrilled that it worked out.FYI I ordered the matching bottoms (Terramar Women's Thermasilk Pointelle Pant) with the same satisfactory result, as well as a MIDweight base layer set (32Degrees Women's Heat Thermal top and bottoms) for the slightly cooler days (30-40 F).

This is super light weight and was great at being not too ...
This is super light weight and was great at being not too warm during the day but plenty warm at night after a 20 degree temperature drop. One thing to be aware of is that it is SHEER! The picture doesn't really show this so I was surprised. I was never planning for it to be my only layer, so it's not a problem for me.

SEE THROUGH Tech!
My office is always freezing and I have to wear black scrubs, so I purchased two of these tops in order to layer appropriately. These tops are EXTREMELY thin, lightweight, and SEE THROUGH! They are not designed to be worn by themselves, but only as a base layer. The tops kept me super warm all day, so much so that I ended up rolling up my sleeves. I wish that they weren't so see through, but they do keep me warmer than nothing at all, but I definitely love Watson's Girl's Long Sleeve Performance Top in XL, which only comes in purple. It is the softest long sleeve shirt and is super warm and fits my 5'2 and 105 lb. frame perfectly.

Thin, Lightweight, and Good Insulation
I must have lucked out (after reading the bad reviews), because the quality of my Thermasilk is fine. It ran a bit large--the idea is it should be tight and go under other layers (though sometimes I put a small tank top under it). It's quite see-through and breeze-through, so its insulating power doesn't work unless something is worn over it. It's great for travel, weighs almost nothing and packs small. It kept me warm without bulkiness on a week long walking tour in February. If it got too hot it was easy to take off and store in a purse (especially with the small tank underneath it in case I had to remove it in public).

Really big
Very large - ordered an XS and it is very baggy meaning it will be hard to wear as a base layer without it making the clothes on top look odd - and possibly effecting how well it works. The material is soft but incredibly thin -very see through. Does not feel as warm as my cheaper thermal base layers. Overall disappointed! :-(

Would purchase again
Very light, unsure if it's see through in the light, the sleeves are a bit short for my liking (~6 inches too short). I'm 5'7 with a torso on the shorter side. The shirt is stretchy so get your regular size. if your arms. Very comfortable doesn't restrict movement and soft. i use this under merino wool long sleeves for extra warmth and comfort.

No Bulk Warmth. Great for Easy Packing Travel.
I wear this all the time at home under sweaters and shirts for no bulk warmth. Also wear under merano wool undergarments for layering, no bulk warmth in cold activities (Arctic travel, snowshoeing etc. ). Like the cuffs for no breeze up the sleeves.

Super light warmth
These are feather-light and keep you super cosy. Perfect for travel (dry fast and take up no space) as well as all the time - layer beautifully under anything, as do the bottoms. Not a Michelin man in sight! I’m usually a US 6 on top (5’7”/170cm, 130lbs/59kg) and the small fits perfectly. Love them <3
