I own the old model which had a metal spring inside, causing rust to form throughout the canister and brush. Is this one all plastic with no metal?

Actually, I own two of these...they came in a two-pack from a brick-and-mortar store. One has rusted because there is a small screw on the bottom and two small screws inside. I'm going to buy another one and hope it was an anomaly because these are really good brushes and hide the thing you don't want to see. The other one is still in great shape. And in response to others who say they get yucky, I only use them with a liquid gel cleanser in the toilet and make sure to swish it around before putting it back in the container. I also clean the container and brush from time to time with a bleach spray which works great.

How stiff is the brush? i have a libman caddy and the brush is waaay too stiff - i want some give as i'm scrubbing. thx!

The bristles seem to be a medium stiffness - effective yet have some give. I think it's a really good brush.

Can you replace the brush head on this new design?

Yes you can. I got a double pack that came with spare brushes. The screw on & off.

What's the significance of part of the brush being blue?

The blue bristles are a little bit stiffer than the white ones—helpful for cleaning up under the rim. OXO also now makes a set with a newly designed caddy and brush (with a “newly designed” price—more expensive, of course!). I’m amazed how long these brushes last. I bought 2 of these in 2016, and only replaced the brush head once on one and twice in the other. I’m having to buy a new caddy as one of them got kicked then dropped when I was cleaning it and it no longer stays closed. The other one which was not mishandled is still going strong. I’ve had no problems with rusting or leaking/stains on my floors, either. When these were new, for about the first 6 months, I had some paper towels folded up underneath them, “testing” to make sure no water leaked out the bottom after using them before I trusted them, however. They have never leaked.

I saw a few comments about the plastic mechanism breaking, but we've had this for several months and I use it every other day or so, and not a single problem. Sturdy, no tipping, no smell, very tidy and looks as nice as a toilet brush can look. I especially appreciate the super-stiff bristles and compact head, which is common in Europe but sometimes here the brushes are rather flimsy for some reason. Great quality.
