I’ve had a PS5 since launch, and although played a few games, this is my first PS5 exclusive (not counting HFW, Miles Morales, FFVII Intergrade, etc). I waited for the price to drop and at £34.99 this is an amazing title to pick-up to experience what the PS5 is capable of. The graphics, gameplay and haptic feedback are all on-point. As for the actually game, the story is fantastic and Ratchet and Clank never fail to impress. Also love how quick load times are and warping between worlds is seamless and a testament to the PS5s SSD. I’m only 3 hours in and having a complete “blast”! There are plenty of weapons and upgrade options and a lot of variety in the gameplay with tasks to do (e.g. diffusing bombs) and loads of side missions. Rift Apart has really got me back into my PS5, as the lack of titles recently meant I was going for my Switch more. Totally worth it if you have a PS5 and not played this yet. Will definitely keep me busy for a few weeks at least.

The £70 can seem pretty steep but I would say that if you are a long-standing fan of the franchise, such as myself, that this game is easily worth the price. I am going to be playing through this multiple times as well as playing through the entire series again. This is the first game I have played on my PS5 that feels truly next-gen. Aside from the visuals, the biggest reason for this is how the game utilises the DualSense controller. The haptic feedback reflects nearly all your action in game, whether it be walking or platforming or shooting. The varied tension of the trigger is also put to amazing use, allowing you to fire your weapons in different ways depending on how far down you're pushing the right trigger. The writing is not amazing in my opinion but it blows the 2016 Ratchet and Clank out of the water, which suffered due to being tied to the damn awful film that was released. The story is simplistic but effective in its own right. I can see some reviews stating that they think the game is repetitive and boring. "Boring" is not a word I would ever use to describe this game, regardless of the price.

Rift Apart is the 1st new Ratchet and Clank game, in the original timeline, since the PS3 game into the Nexus. The game in a way continues the ending of nexus but also introduces some new gmeplay mechanics (phantom dash ), new characters (rivet, kitt, quantum and pierre are all great additions) and still remains the most visually impressive game on PS5 to date. The story feels a bit tame but is a good sequel to the future saga. Characters are handled well, there is good character development for the new cast (ratchet and clank whilst having some development, are prettymuch at the stage where they have been through all the development they need to, courtesy of the brilliant future saga) and there are some aspects I feel can be developed in a any future sequels (give rivet and ratchet unique abilities / weapons, give either lombax the option of visiting a planet with unique missions / levels for them). Overall its a great game for Ratchet and clank fans and would highly recommend it if you enjoyed the PS3 and PS2 games. Personally I would say that it is in my top 5 R&C games (ranked 4th behind crack in time, going commando and up your arsenal ). Here's to hoping insomniac releases a sequel which can match or eclipse ACIT.

Ratchet & Clank are back! And this time new Lombax-girl Rivet is along for the ride in this dimension switching, planet hopping adventure. Collectables, Great writing and Cute fuzzy faces await! This game was truly an incredible experience from beginning to end, on a 4K TV this is 'the' showcase for what the Playstation 5 is really capable of. With visuals on par with Pixar and the ability to switch entire worlds out near instantaneously, this is the first game to 'really' flex the power and speed of the PS5. It's really impressive honestly. A lot of people have issues with the new standard price of Playstation 5 games, but this is one of the very few PS5 games to actually be deserving of such a high cost and coming from me (some who is strict with his spending) there is no higher praise. If you're one of the lucky few to have a Playstation 5, I wholeheartedly reccomend Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

I am truly delighted with this latest addition to the Ratchet and Clank story, which continues the story arc established with the PS3 (the PS4 story was a standalone game-of-the-film-of-the-game). The improvement in graphics is instantly apparent: lighting effects and the rift mechanism that allows hopping into sub-dimensions are all awesome. Weapons take advantage of the new haptic triggers and are very intuitive. The new characters are great fun and very sympathetic, and the parallel universe Zurkon family had me in stitches. One new feature I really like is the addition of a difficulty level (Explorer) where you DON'T TAKE DAMAGE. As someone whose reflexes are deteriorating, I can see this as a real godsend for people who love the story and the puzzles but aren't great gamers.

It’s Ratchet & Clank (& Rivet)! Undeniably my favourite series on PlayStation & therefore bound to get Five Stars… But, “Rift Apart” is NOT my favourite game of the series. Why? Well, first of all, the game doesn’t follow the same, familiar pattern of previous episodes whereby our heroes begin their adventures on one or two “easy” planets before heading off to harder challenges. Rift Apart throws you into a chaotic battle right from the word go. Players new to the series may be confused as to who or what is happening during the first “chapter” & I definitely benefited from having refreshed my Ratchet & Clank knowledge by replaying the PS3 titles before commencing this new entry. Rift Apart is a direct follow on from “A Crack in Time” & “Into the Nexus” & makes references to these earlier titles. The other little bug-bear I have is with the new rift-grabber. It’s a bit of a pain as is the option to travel from one dimension to another on each planet. The reason will become clearer when you play it &, I recommend you do, even with the few gripes I have.
