It works ... my draft is history!
I would first like to address the issue regarding some of the reviews I've read about the product being shipped and arriving folded in a box. I get the impression that there are different versions of this product. I purchased the Twin Draft Guard EXTREME. Mine arrived being 4 separate styrofoam tubes shipped straight/unfolded in a plastic shipping bag. Two of the 4 tubes have a plastic collar/sleeve on them to insert the other two tubes into to make two long ones. The installation instructions say to measure your door and cut the tubes 1/2"smaller -- in my situation I actually had to cut the tubes just slightly more than 1" smaller than my door width for the Draft Guard to clear the butt moldings on each side of my door frame. In reading some of the reviews some claim the Draft Guard to be loose and sloppy and too big for the thickness of their door. I can't understand why, my door is 1.25" thick and my Draft Guard fits perfectly. My thought on that is that the Draft Guard is probably an automated mass produced product, like most products are these days, and perhaps occasionally some accidentally get stitched improperly at the factory, resulting in a poor and sloppy fit. Most door widths and thicknesses are generally pretty standard, and the fact that there are more favorable than negative reviews seems to somewhat support my improperly stitched/manufactured theory. In my particular application I purchased the Draft Guard Extreme for a door between my kitchen and back hall entrance area. The kitchen side floor is tile and the other side is carpeting ... the carpeting side which the Draft Guard slides on. Being that I have an older house the floor is not perfectly level -- the gap beneath the door is slightly larger on one side than the other, and still the Draft Guard seals the entire gap and slides fine on the carpeting. Because of the carpeting, and mostly due to the uneven gap, the Draft Guard was a little tighter beneath my door on one side causing the Draft Guard to slide over a bit, but I quickly remedied that problem as others did by securing the Draft Guard with two thumb tacks on each side of the door. I must admit prior to purchasing the Draft Guard the uneven gap and carpeting were my two concerns, but those concerns have been put to rest. The weather has just started to turn cold in my area and I can already feel the difference. The draft which I could once feel coming from beneath my kitchen/rear hall door is gone and is now history! If installed (and manufactured) properly I see no reason for anyone not to achieve positive results with the Draft Guard Extreme. One should also bear in mind that the Draft Guard, given its affordability, is a product aid meant as an alternative to performing costly door/floor repairs, which in most cases will help stop, or at least minimize/reduce door drafts. Anyone expecting results above and beyond that would be a misconception. In my situation the Draft Guard Extreme performed superbly and my draft is gone, so I have no other recourse but to recommend it!

Great kit for fixing drafts
I read a lot of reviews about this product before placing an order (too many reviews than I'd care to admit), and I hope this review will clear-up a few things. Many people say that this draft guard isn't perfect for their needs. Of course it isn't. There is no product that's going to work for every possible thickness of door, every possible door width, every possible floor texture, and every possible gap between door and floor. This is a KIT and it's a GREAT little kit. If you're looking for something that will keep drafts out, that doesn't require a permanent install with screws or glue, and if you're willing to cut (and possibly sew a little), this kit is an excellent solution. A number of reviews say this kit comes with Styrofoam. It doesn't. It's more of an EPP (expanded polypropylene) foam. Styrofoam is very rigid, dents, crumbles, and breaks or snaps when under stress. The EPP foam in this draft guard is better than Styrofoam and has rigidity, but some flexibility and will rebound rather than break. This product uses good quality foam. I recognized the EPP foam when I opened the kit from my R/C glider days. The stuff is durable and still light. This kit is pretty simple to assemble and you can get as basic or as fancy as you like. You cut the foam to the lengths needed for your door and you couple two rollers together per side to make two longer rollers. It's done this way probably for shipping (you get a total of four short rolls to make two long rolls using rigid plastic couplings). Once the rollers are slid into the brown cloth sleeves, you wrap one end of the cloth over and it stays put with Velcro. You then slide the whole guard under your door and viola. It moves back and forth with the door. If you want to get fancy or if you have a thin door or you're worried the guard will slide out, you can do things like sew the cloth a bit tighter, pin the guard to the bottom of the door with thumbtacks, etc. But I didn't need to do that with mine. As best I can tell, this guard is going to work great on all surfaces except shag rugs (which might have too much friction). Tile, linoleum, wood floors, laminates, and carpet all seem like they'd be fine. It slides easiest obviously on smooth surfaces, but even on carpet it works great (I tested it). The last thing I'll say is that I've been using a bean-bag type snake draft guard for a few years and I've become very tired of moving it manually back and forth at night. I like this new draft guard so much that after I got my first one, I placed an order for two more. I think this thing is great. I'm currently using one at the office for auditory privacy, but I'm going to get two more for home use to stop drafts.

Functions well, but required stitching to secure at the length of my door.
I purchased this draft guard hoping it would do two things: 1) block the space under my dining room door so odors do not pass to the rest of the apartment; and 2) keep the door from being blown open by the draft caused by the open window. It seems to function fine for my first concern, but is much too lightweight to act as a “door stopper.” Now, the reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 has nothing to do with the functionality, as I was hoping for more than it advertised. I docked a star because of a snag in the installation of the product. It arrives in a box with the long, fabric cover that has two openings for the foam tubes (think pool noodles) to be inserted. The tubes themselves come in four pieces, with an attachment on two to hold the other two in place. You’re supposed to cut down two of the pieces and attach them to the others so that the total length is about the width of the bottom of the door/window you wish to enclose, for me, 30 inches. You then insert the tubes into the fabric liner, and fold the top over the rest of it to secure with a Velcro strip. Here’s where I ran into difficulty — at 30 inches, the Velcro hook strip passed the bottom, fixed section of loops, this rendering it ineffective at holding the entire product together. I considered cutting it down, but did not want to alter the construction of the item, so I was able to remedy the problem by folding the top part over and back again (accordion-style), and sewing a few stitches at each corner, and a few in the middle, to tack the length of the fabric flap down shorter, allowing the Velcro to fasten. The only issues with this simple fix are that I would need to cut the stitches to adjust the length in any way, and there’s now a thicker flap on one side that had to be shoved under the door. It was not a problem for my decent-sized gap, but if you’re trying to block a smaller space, the extra thickness may be an issue in terms of fit. Going back to #2 of what I had hoped this draft guard would do for me, I am planning on placing a small, strong magnet all the way down inside the end of the fabric liner, and install a second one where it hits on the doorframe in the hopes that the magnets will be able to hold the door from blowing open from the draft. The door has issues latching properly; so, rather than having the hardware replaced all together, I will try using the magnets to help keep it closed.

Are you joking?
I bought two of these draft guards to block off the bottom of my door... or so i thought they would. These things are the biggest waste of money ever. Mine came in packages that were smashed and "nicely" pre-opened for me (meaning that someone had already returned them and they were sent out to me). The first one i tried to put together already had the tubes cut down and the tube didn't even fit in one of the sides. The other side was so loose that i literally could just throw the tube down into the slot because it was sown wrong. Also all the seams had come apart and were frayed. I promptly put it back in the box for return. The second one i opened had the same problem with the tubes being cut already, although this one was at least sown together properly. I slid this one under the door because it was technically in working order and i wasn't going to return it until i figured out that i couldn't even close my door because the material hooks around the bottom corners of your door. Also the tubes don't have any weight to them so they kind of just float on the carpet providing no REAL draft protection. Needless to say i am sending both back for a full return and i would rather just shove a towel underneath the door because honestly it would do a better job for cheaper. ZERO STARS

Does everything it says it does
I live in an apartment complex and all the doors have nearly a 1 inch gap at the bottom with no weather stripping (because they're indoors), just a rubber sweep to keep debris out. The problem is that I'm losing air/heat out of this gap, not to mention it lets smells and noise come through easier. It's like everyone's door is open an inch - not good. This product couldn't be simpler to "install," it took just a couple minutes. If you have a standard 3ft door frame you shouldn't even need to trim the Styrofoam. Few things to note: -it does a great job at keeping air in or out (whichever you're trying to do) - and that's why I gave this 5 stars because it performs the intended function quite well. -it seems to help on some smells too - if you've ever lived in an apartment complex, you know the mixture of what different people cook can be a bit unpleasant. I live in a non-smoking building, but I imagine it would do a good job at stopping that smell too. -it does not stop the noise very well because it's just Styrofoam, but it's not advertised as a noise guard. -if you have a threshold, I can see scenarios where it would get caught. That was my main concern when reading the negative reviews on this product. But I have a relatively smooth transition from the outside hallway to the apartment, and it glides smoothly and I can open and close the door with no problems and without it getting stuck. Standard weather stripping would still probably be better than this product, but the ease and simplicity make this a good buy.

Does the job, just kind of annoying
I live in a 100 yr old apartment building in Cleveland, where it gets very cold and very snowy. My living room, which has the front door, is terribly drafty. I repeat, TERRIBLE. I can literally feel the cold air blasting in. As it finally is feeling like winter I decided I couldn't take it, I had to do something about that door. I purchased some adhesive draft stop silicone thing for the vertical edge, and this item for the bottom. Between the two, I feel almost zero draft now. I give this 3 stars though because 1. it's grossly overpriced. About $8 seems about right. 2. It's a raging pain to shut my door with it on. It keeps getting squeezed out by the inside hinge corner and then I have to kick and do a special maneuver to get it to stay put when I close the door. I do like that this stays on while I'm not home so I don't come home to the draft. 3. Why isn't it just black? This beige/khaki is pretty damn ugly.

Fits great and keeps the cold air out
I live in a house that the builder just left too much of a gap between the front door and the carpet. cold air has been spilling into my house triggering the heater every few minutes and wasting money. I tried one of those sticker plastic draft gaurds because I cant put a permenant one in and put screws in the door as I rent my home. The sticker one was weak and just seemed to redirect the cold airflow. I recalled something about this one I had seen and went to amazon to order it. It works like a charm. it firmly is in place and secure with both the front and the back foam gaurds. It comes with a two connectors and 4 foam tubes that you fit together and then cut to adjust to your door frame. i did not have to do any cutting because the door is standard sized and so is the gaurd size at its maximum. then you slip the foam into the canvas holder and slide it on the door. the effect was perfect. I can no longer feel the cold seeping in and I am very happy. my only complaint is that it is a little cheap looking at the edges.. and when i got it , I went "this is it? i could have made it" but realistically i dont have the time and it worked great, probably saving me that much in my PGE bill in a month I am happy with this completely

Bought this for a difficult cat situation
I actually use this not to block a draft, but to help with a difficult cat situation. There are two cats in my household who do not get along and need to be separated. Unfortunately, they have a habit of stalking/attacking each other underneath the door. This product comes in four styrofoam cylinders that link together with plastic tubing. The cylinders slide into a canvas casing with a velcro closure. It's very easy to set up, I just had to trim down the styrofoam with scissors to fit the door. I am not sure how well it would work for a draft as I didn't buy it for that purpose, but it works miracles to keep the cats from antagonizing each other. It's provided much needed relief for everyone in my household! It also helps to muffle sound somewhat. Opening the door feels almost exactly as it does if I were not using this. I have a thick shag rug that part of the door slides over, so I was worried it would catch on the rug and I wouldn't be able to open the door all the way. I shouldn't have been worried, because it's so lightweight that it glides perfectly. It's also extremely easy to slide on and off, and I've moved it to other doors around the house as needed.

Excelente producto
