Max Fist (Joe Manganiello) is a local drunk who claims to be a superhero from the planet Chromium. He tells anyone who will listen that he was pulled into a wormhole, falling through time and space, and dropped to earth without any of his powers. No one pays any attention to Max except a teenager named Hamster (Skylan Brooks) who can’t get enough of Max’s stories. When Hamster and his sister (Zolee Griggs) get in trouble with a vicious drug syndicate led by The Manager (Glenn Howerton), Max takes to the streets as a brutal vigilante hellbent on proving himself as the hero no one believes him to be. Awful..
I thought it might be a good film to watch for family night- but it was just weird. We kept hoping it would get better..but it just continued in its awfulness. The end is just relief that it's over. I don't know what all the great reviews are about- maybe there are some super hero fans that "got" the intentions of this film but if you're just a casual movie watcher looking for a good movie this is not it.

Say Super One More Time...
Archenemy is the gritty origin story of an unlikely modern-day (super)hero that turns the genre on its head. Not a perfect movie, but it’s thoroughly entertaining none-the-less and leaves a lot of potential for an expanded universe. Standout performances by Manganiello, Griggs, Brooks, Scheer, and Howerton.Oh… and that El Camino is amazing!! ;)

Check. Check.
Can we talk about the fact that Elijah Wood put money on this? Good movie! Has POC roles that are main characters. All the white people are evil. Check. Check. Film feels like a setup for a universe and I would like to see the main characters come back for more adventures. Especially, Zolee Griggs's character Indigo. Who I think is my favorite. 10 out of 10 would watch again. I hope amazon adds x-ray to this film. I like pop up video facts!

Trailer looked promising...
Trailer looked promising but movie was unwatchable and awful IMO. Instant buyers regret after the $6.99 rental fee. Was lured in by association with Mandy and Color of Space. But this one was a complete dud in comparison. Wait until it's free on Prime or Netflix if you feel like you need to check it out.

Solid, innovative take on the superhero genre.
Solid, innovative take on the superhero movie. Very good acting all around, on-point costume design, and great soundtrack. My only (minor) critique is that some of the transitions from live action to the animation-based flashbacks were inconsistently implemented. Some of them happened smoothly, others felt jarring and seemed to be shoe-horned in. Overall, excellent movie.

Different from most
A unique take on the superhero movie. Here's hoping for a sequel.

Different Type of Superhero Story
I would give it 5 stars but I am not a fan of the cartoonish input at times.. That said, the story was unusual and I enjoyed watching it overall..

Max packs one hell of a punch
Do you like gritty superhero movies? If that's a yes, then this is one for you. There are no Avengers here, no X-Men or Justice League. This is downtrodden superhero, Max Fist (Joe Manganiello), lost from his reality, and now spending his time drunk and abusive in the backstreets of downtown USA. Is the drunk spouting truth about his origins or is he truly the crazy guy everyone thinks he is?Hamster (Skylan Brooks), a rookie journalist, and his sister Indigo (Zolee Griggs), who works as a foot soldier for the local drug lord, put in stellar performances as two siblings struggling to thrive. The story picks up when Hamster happens by chance to cross paths with Max, and the lives of both of them snowball in to a brutal, and bloody conclusion. This film has real grit to it, and it's a down to earth superhero story with no glossy costumes, or effects. The blood and emotion is real, and this is an excellent movie. Highly recommended.
