Perfect size for sauce making, garlic braising, butter warming, milking frothing, even spice heating and pounding…. Can easily stick into the oven while baking bread. A very handy everyday pot. Bought it at half the current price, excellent value ! Amazon pricing can be mind boggling at times.

EDIT #1: This is my 2nd order for the 0.45QT saucepan. My family also loves cast iron cookery pots and pans, and when one of my grandchildren was here visiting over the weekend mentioned again how much he loves cast iron, so I gave him another 5 pieces of my collection including this saucepan. I think he does more of the day-to-day cooking than his girlfriend! This is a perfect size for clarifying a pound of butter, making a sauce and so on. I didn't want to be missing this saucepan so I bought another one! I'm waiting for Victoria Cast Iron to restock their 1 quart saucepan - not interested in any other company Victoria is that good!! I, like many other people, love cast iron! I have a large collection of name brands, off name brands, scavenges from an unhappy neighbour or two that hated theirs...love them all. What never ceases to amaze me are comments that their pan/pot/whatever rusted....that's because some people don't know how to properly care for cast iron. You don't season them with salt or put them in a dishwasher (like one comment here I'd read!) or even leave them to 'air dry'! It's iron. That's why it rusts! You can re-surface and re-season even the worst cast iron and have it look brand new. As someone who buys, re-seasons when necessary - and uses cast iron I love these because they are indestructible. I have over 30 including some made before the turn of the 20th century. Although I have several other recognizable name brands, I appreciate Victoria brand cast iron because of the quality and finish. It's soooo smooth surfaced! The best cast iron on the market. The best! Love my Victoria brand cast iron. If I could give this brand 10 stars, I would! If you haven't tried cast iron cookery pots, give Victoria brand a try. You won't be disappointed. I highly recommend Victoria! EDIT #2: I just went back and re-read the 1 star complaints: YOU are the problem - not the cast iron cookware. You don't wash with soap and air dry. Because it's cast iron, iron RUSTS. You have to season the cookery pots and pans. When properly seasoned (Olive oil or coconut oil is the best), you only have to RINSE the pan, paper towel to dry then set on medium heat to properly heat off the moisture and when necessary re-season with olive oil or coconut oil and then bake upside down in 400 degree oven for an hour. PLEASE people, if you're thinking of buying cast iron for the first time, watch the videos on Youtube FIRST and learn how to clean and care for these. It's a different way of cooking, cleaning and caring for them. Since submitting this EDIT, i have purchased more cast iron cookware by VIctoria (my favourite!) Excellent quality, excellent craftsmanship and smooth finish, excellent seasoning. I now own 47 pieces of cast iron cookware.
